One of my favorite parts of my trip to New York was walking around Brooklyn Heights. I’ve never ventured over to Brooklyn, and I love exploring new places so I really, really enjoyed meandering the neighborhood. I wish I could’ve spent more time there but soaked up every moment. I loved the festive stoop decorations and seriously wish I lived in a brownstone now. The view from the park of downtown Manhattan was unreal, too. I had the pleasure of watching this sweet elderly gentleman walk down to the end of these benches with his walker and just sit … looking out at the view, taking it in. I wanted to cry.

I don’t know if I’ve ever shared how much I love the elderly. I have so much respect for them. My years of nursing that’s softened my heart towards them after standing at their bedsides in the hospital for years, caring for them, having many hilarious and heartbreaking conversations with them, hearing their frustrations about getting older and its challenges, etc.

With all that said, it warmed my heart watching him walk by with his walker. He gave me a sweet smile and hello. Swoon. I think I’ve missed having them be a part of my everyday life. It made me wish I took in more moments like that. We get so caught up in our busyness that we let beautiful views and moments slip past us. I know that’s true for me. In the new year — did I just say that? whoa — I want to slow down a little. Take in more beautiful views and moments. What do you want to do?

Oh, and if you’re wondering why I’m wearing rain booties … it’s because it was really rainy on the morning we went over the Brooklyn and then it just stayed cloudy for the rest of the day, and didn’t rain. I was excited to wear them, ok? Haha, y’all know my love for heels so when I saw these I was like MINE. CART. PURCHASED. DONE. They were a little uncomfortable at first but weren’t so bad after a while. I’ll let you know how they do in Colorado this weekend. xo.

  1. Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of my absolute favorite views in the world! I’m so glad you got to experience Brooklyn. In year’s past I had never made it past the park but when I went out for Fashion Week this year I ventured around Brooklyn some and fell in love! It’s got all the charm of Manhattan without all the chaos.

PS: I LOVE the new site design! The only thing I find a little hard is reading the outfit details. I don’t know if it’s the all caps, but for some reason it takes me a while to find the product I am looking for. Just thought I would throw that out there in case you’ve heard that from anyone else! Otherwise, it’s wonderful!!

Thanks for the feedback on the site design, Mary-Katherine! I really appreciate it and need your help with this particular issue, actually. So, I have had to restructure the Outfit Detail formatting a bit because when things are linked, now … they turn bold, as well. And I really like that. So, bolding the brand like I’ve always done and just having the link italicized AND BOLDED just makes it look really messy and even harder to find what you’re looking for … so the way I’ve been doing it for the past few days is the cleanest way I’ve found. I think, with anything new, it takes time to adjust so, with all that said, I’m going to keep doing the outfit details as I have for awhile. In a few weeks, would you mind letting me know if you’ve gotten more used to it and it’s gotten easier to find the items within the Outfit Details that you’re looking for? That’d be so helpful! Thanks again, Mary-Katherine! xoxoxo
