Bundled Up In Grays + Mustard Yellow

Hello, hello! Happy Friday! I shared this look a couple weekends ago when the East Coast had a major cold front come through! Y’all showed it so much love on Instagram, I thought I’d feature it here so you can get a better look. I will always love J.Crew’s classic cocoon coat that they’ve brought back for many years. I bought it last year in this beautiful mustard color, which I know isn’t everyones cup of tea, but hey … if that’s you, maybe just focus on the beautiful fit instead 😉 I rediscovered it when I got back from London and I was putting coats back in the coat closet. I had forgotten how good it is! Be on the lookout for it next year in the Fall and pick a color that suits you [ it always comes in lots of fun colors and staple basics! ] and you will have it for YEARS. It’s so perfect. I love how the variations of dark denim with the light and dark grey compliment the rich, bright mustard, as well. I’m still majorly crushing on my new white bag, as well.

Here are a few good ones to choose from if you’re in the market to sport the new trend, as well:

Guess what?? Yesterday, I had an amazing phone call with a new graphic designer / web developing team that I am hiring to completely revamp Sequins & Things. Last year, I redid my site and moved it from Blogger to WordPress so that the mobile site was a little easier for y’all to use. But, honestly, I didn’t want to make any huge changes in terms of design. I knew I wanted to work with this team for this big reboot for almost two years now. It was just a matter of time in terms of when I wanted to take on all that a redesign entails. We’re looking at a Fall launch – hopefully! And cannot WAIT to have a custom site that will have a place for everything that y’all ask about, plus a few other fun features that I can’t wait for! What are some of your favorite features on blogs that you visit?

What are some of your favorite blogs, in general, in terms of design and functionality? Comment below! I have to admit – I don’t read other blogs, like at all – so I’m completely clueless when it comes to giving examples of things I’d like on my site. I just have thoughts so I’d love your insight! We’re in the very beginning stages so this is the perfect time for me to hear your thoughts and opinions, and take a look at the ones you love!

Are y’all up to anything fun this weekend? It’s supposed to rain really bad here this weekend so I’m not sure what I’ll get into but I think it’ll involve organizing my office because I haven’t started organizing all my office supplies into the new closet space. I also rediscovered The Container Store the other day, so things are going to be taken to a whole new level here soon. I am so excited! 🙂

I also have a lot of posts that I need to prep for y’all that’ll go live next week. Getting those done ahead of time will allow me to spend a lot of next week doing one last big search online for furniture and organization items before making final decisions. I really need to be done. I am constantly getting distracted by home decor posts these days and I’m just ready to commit and be done with it all, so that I’m not still waiting for stuff to get here in April, ha!

Anyway, I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet! I hope y’all have a great Friday! Thanks for stopping by! xo.

  6. I love the color of that coat and it looks beautiful on you! Very excited to see the new site come Fall! I have a lot of fave blogs–yours included of course!—but others are Cella Jane, Hello Fashion Blog, Southern Curls & Pearls, For All Things Lovely, Gal Meets Glam, and Chronicles of Frivolity. Did I name enough? LOL There’s a few more but I’ll spare ya the long list. And I looooovvvveee the container store! Too bad the closest one near me is an hour and half away! Ugghhh! But perhaps that’s a good thing because I would spend all my time and money there. Ha! Have a great weekend!!

Hey Michelle! Thanks for the feedback! I literally love every single blogger gal you mentioned. I’ve met them all, except Becky – although I hope to this year! – and they are all seriously the sweetest gals in the blogging industry I’ve met thus far 🙂 Also, glad I’m not the only one obsessed with The Container Store ha! Have a great weekend!

LOVE this coat! I used to live in the Northeast for a few years before I moved home to Texas. I do NOT miss the cold, but I do miss all of the cute outerwear and sweaters.

The one thing I would really love to see on your blog is a way for me to scroll to older or newer posts at the bottom of the blog post instead of having to go back to the home page to look at a new post. Does that make sense?

Its not a huge inconvenience. Really its a #firstworldproblem

    Love ya girl!

Hi there… congrats on the redesign, how exciting! I’m not a huge fan of how the products you linking to are listed. It feels like the words are jumbled together, and it can be annoying to find the keyword of what I’m looking for (e.g., “coat”). Good luck with it all!

Thanks for the feedback, Sivan! That’s really helpful. I spell everything out the way you would see it on a retailer’s website because it’s good search engine optimization practice, but none of my readers have ever mentioned that. So I’m glad you did 🙂 Appreciate it! xo.

    Hello Alyson!

I absolutely love reading your blog. You’re the only blogger, to me, that really provides insightful information about fashion, beauty, etc! I love your blog!!

My favorite blog to navigate things is actually Gal Meets Glam but only in terms of revisiting older posts. When I click on her categories sections, the older posts pop up in grid form, which I find so much more appealing than scrolling through two-three posts per page to find what you’re looking for. That’s just my two cents!

    Congrats on your re-design! xo!

Hey Kendall! First of all, that is such a sweet compliment. Thank you!! Gal Meets Glam has such a beautiful blog and so many fun features. I hope to provide y’all with something somewhat similar. Like hers, mine will be a custom site and I definitely want my Outfit category section to be completely redesigned making it easy for y’all to look at lots of outfits in one spot, as well as some other fun features to make searching easier 🙂 Stay tuned!

Can you please share what size you got in the coat? And if it is regular or petite? I love reading your blog! We are the same size, so you are basically my personal shopper! lol With that being said, I wish that you would also include what size you are wearing when you post outfit details. Ive noticed that sometimes you do, and sometimes you don’t…or you just mention that it fits true to size. When I see something I like, the clothes literally go right into my Nordstrom shopping bag and it would be so helpful if I knew what size I should be getting. Other than that, I LOVE your blog and I love following you on Snapchat and Instagram. Keep up the good work! Oh, and your Snap yesterday about the lady finding your Mom’s belongings in a jean jacket had me in tears. So sweet 🙂

Hey Sarah! Pretty sure I got back to you on Snapchat but, just in case, I got a Petite 000. I don’t typically include my particular size because not everyone knows what size I normally am. So, I could typically wear an XS in tops but not everyone knows that and if I’m in an XXS, they may think they need to get their normal size but really, that’s me sizing down. Does that make sense? So, instead, I typically mention how the item RUNS. I’m sorry I didn’t do it for this post. I must have been in the zone and completely forgot! Hope this explanation helps and I’ll be better about making sure those size tips are mentioned next time! xo.

I love the color of the jacket! How tall are you? I’m 4″11 and I think I need petite jackets because I bought a peacoat in xsmall and it was too big. What do you think about the jacket you’re wearing on someone my size? Love your blog!
