Hey there! Happy Monday, friends!

Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world and, although it is buzzing with more people than is sometimes comfortable, it certainly has an understanding draw. I mean, look at the massive Colosseum behind me in these photos! It blows my mind how something that clearly took so much architectural intelligence was built thousands and thousands of years ago. Sure, there are huge pieces of it missing now but it’s grandeur is still very much intact.

The off-the-shoulder top I’m wearing in these photos is one of my personal favorites out of everything I packed for my trip. It’s really lightweight and has the cutest bow detailing at the end of the sleeves, which sit just above your wrists. It’s great for a summer picnic, in my opinion. It may look a little see-through in these photos but it’s simply because they are so backlit, which I think made some of these look so dreamy! What do you think?

Love the hat I’m wearing but not the price tag? Check out this one for under $50!

One thing to remember, if you’re heading to Rome this summer, is to make sure your shoulders and knees are covered if you’re venturing into any of its famous churches. I also recommend you wear things that are breathable and loose. This off-the-shoulder top is a great option, but you’d have to bring a light scarf with you in your bag to place over your shoulders in those churches, as I mentioned. It’s a tough city to dress for in the summer for that reason and it gets SO hot!

I’m still working away at the travel diaries from my two recent trips abroad. Y’all know I’m extremely detail oriented and I also want to keep style content coming your way so I appreciate your patience and I do hope they get to you before you’re upcoming summer vacations! 🙂

Speaking of summer vacations, where are you heading this summer?? I want to know! xo.

Editor's Notes

• If you do wear an off-the-shoulder top in Rome, beware that you might be denied access to certain churches as it is seen as inappropriate to enter without your shoulders and knees being covered. You should carry a lightweight scarf with you to cover your shoulders.

• The white skinnies I’m wearing run a little bit big. I would go one size down from your normal.

• Heading to Rome anytime soon? Be sure to purchase your ticket for the tour of the Colosseum & Roman Forum before your trip so you can bypass the line / queue! More information on that can be found in the Rome Travel Diary!

• Love the hat I’m wearing but not the price tag? Check out this one for under $50!

Love this outfit!! Great dress code tip on going into the churches or cathedrals… I would have never thought of that!
I’m going to Denver for Labor day weekend to celebrate my 25th birthday – it’s no Roma but I’ll take it haha 🙂

Hope you’re all unpacked and settled back in!

Great pics and advice about covering up. Question for you regarding off-the-shoulder top. How do you keep your top from riding up on your shoulders. I’ve tried the safety pin and elastic trick, but it hurts, so curious if you have some other trick ???? Thank you!

Lots of mini trips with the hubby and 2 and 3 year old boys. Baseball games, beach, aquariums, zoo, etc.

  7. Beautiful photos! I love how in some of them the sun is in back and casts this bright but dreamy look over the pictures! They should be printed in a magazine!

These pics are so dreamy! I’ve made it to Florence but not Rome. It’s on the list for a few years from now. This summer we’re headed for our annual trip to Newport, RI. Love the ocean and New England! ????

LOVE these photos! It makes Rome look so magical instead of the crowded city it usually looks like in photos. ???? I’m guessing you got there pretty early to get these shots? Also, I love these sandals. Are they comfortable? Are they worth the investment? I want all the rockstud shoes ????

Yes, the crowds definitely take away from the magic sometimes. These photos were actually shot at golden hour right before sunset. There were people around but not overly crowded. They let us do our thing .. while also staring hah, but I’m used to that.

The sandals are worth the investment, in my opinion. I wouldn’t say they’re overly comfortable. There’s not a lot of support but they are don’t cause blisters and are well made. 🙂 xo.
