The Friday Five | Holiday Shopping Edition

This photo is from THIS post last year when I was living in London! If you’re in London this Christmas season, be sure to check out my post of what to do! Since these products are old, I found some similar items to help you recreate it! One of you, please buy the coat that is still available in grey in a size 2!! It is SO cute in grey!

LOFT | 50% off everything with code WRAPITUP!

So, LOFT is one of those retailers that I kind of forget about sometimes. Every time I rediscover their site, I am reminded of how many adorable products they carry and how great their prices are! I recently snagged these ear muffs, this beige cable knit beanie and this chic white coat for an upcoming trip to a bitterly cold part of the world! Don’t miss this amazing sale! I’m impressed that they still have so much merchandise still available with how good it is!

ABERCROMBIE & FITCH | 50% off entire site [with some minor exclusions] + $5 get it by Christmas delivery

I’ve been so impressed with Abercrombie & Fitch lately. Their clothing selection is functional and practical, while also being comfortable and cute. I have incorporated so many of their products into my everyday looks, especially during this holiday season. Their Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale was 50% off but they just got some new items in so I snagged this pink overcoat and this sweater dress in the gray & white stripe and cream. I’m also going to try out this pair of jeans. I love the distressing! The price was just too good to resist!

J.CREW | 40% off full-price styles & free shipping with code TIME2GIVE

J.Crew always does a great job of offering a wide variety of products in a multitude of colors to fit everyones’ style and preferences. In the Fall and Winter season, I don’t think any other retailer does outerwear as well as J.Crew. I hope you’ve been able to take advantage of their selection in sizes and styles but, if you haven’t, check out their outerwear HERE. I personally love the Lodge Coat. I recently snagged this half-zip Polartec pullover in pink, this striped turtleneck in the pink and burgundy combo as well as the cream and white and … if this cable knit sweater with adorable button detail down the side was available in my size, I would have grabbed it, too!

NEIMAN MARCUS | 20% off select merchandise with code FRIENDME

I did some digging on the Neiman Marcus website! They have a lot of great items included in the sale like my most recent Tory Burch handbag purchase, my favorite Tory Burch travel flats and patent leather sandals that I wear everyday in the summer, and this super soft cashmere travel scarf that you’ll see me wear on my next trip! I recently purchased a GloPro and am excited to be able to safely travel with it in this GloPro case, included in the sale!

ANTHROPOLOGIE | 25% off everything + free shipping! No minimum!

I love myself some Anthropologie! These candles are keeping my home smell absolutely divine and this eyelash cardigan is a MUST have! I ordered this striped pajamas in grey and I think everyone needs this fuzzy gray robe! Looks so cozy!

I couldn’t resist this pink pullover! I think it’ll be great for one of my travel days that I have coming up soon!

This gray patterned scarf is currently on sale and I just couldn’t resist it because it’s so cheap and looks like it’ll go with so many outfits!

How perfect is this cable knit pom pom beanie! A good cream-colored one is tough to find at this point in the season so if you haven’t snagged one, jump on this one!

This gray off-the-shoulder sweater does NOT look very appealing by the product photo but I promise it looks like the fuzziest and coziest off-the-shoulder sweater I’ve seen across my favorite retailers, AND it’s the best price on sale!

I’ve been stalking this pink overcoat all week and it’s finally available in my size … AND 50% off! Oh, happy day!

FAMILY TIME: My family lives a short 30-minute drive from me but the busy-ness of the everyday can sometimes get in the way of making plans to get together. The holidays are always a really fun reminder of just how lucky I am to have such a sweet group of people in my family. We all couldn’t be more different but we manage to get along, have fun and, most importantly, respect those differences and not let them get in the way of connecting. This year, we are staying here in Florida. The past couple of years have been spent in Colorado and North Carolina so we felt that it might be nice to just opt out of the craziness of holiday travel and just enjoy a Christmas at home. I’m so excited. We’re doing a big White Elephant exchange and we’ve never done that before so it should be hilarious and super fun! If you have any good gift ideas for that, let me know! I want to make sure mine is either hilarious or a really good one. Our cap is $100! Leave a comment and let me know if you have ideas 🙂

THE REAL REASON FOR THE SEASON: As a Christian, I really have such a soft spot for the Christmas holiday. My favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night because it is all about the real reason for the season. Its lyrics say it all –

Long lay the world in sin and error pining
’til He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of Hope
The weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks
A new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
O, hear the angels’ voices
O, night divine
O, night when Christ was born
O, night divine
O, night divine

I love the italicized parts, especially. Our soul felt its worth AFTER He appeared. Without him, we often feel hopeless. We live in a weary world. I think we have all felt that at one point or another this year, in particular.

My favorite part, though, is ‘O night divine’. It’s repeated multiple times throughout the song and it got me thinking about the word divine. There are many definitions of the word, one of them being ‘extremely good; unusually lovely’. God knew we couldn’t help ourselves. He knew that no matter how good we try to be on our own, we’ll end up exhausted and defeated. He knew we needed Him to stand in the gap for us, and that we needed Jesus for that. Jesus fulfilled the ultimate promise and paid the ultimate price … for all of us. I surely don’t deserve that, so what an extremely good and unusually lovely gift it was for all of us to receive on that Christmas night from our Heavenly Father. It is the gift I am personally always thankful for during this time of year, but easy to forget during the hustle and bustle so I thought I’d include this message as a small reminder, as we surely are in the thick of it all with only 10 days left until Christmas.

**PLEASE NOTE: Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. Me and you. So, if this is not your belief … that is totally fine. I have nothing against your belief whatsoever, and I’m not stating mine to start any kind of debate. This blog is my space to share myself with you, and my faith is a big part of myself. It is never my intention to preach to you or persuade you to believe what I believe. It is my hope that this will not deter you from coming back here, either.

FESTIVE PAJAMAS: I tend to go a little overboard when it comes to festive pajamas during this time of year. They’re all so cute and I irrationally tell myself that I’ll be wearing pajamas all day everyday the week of Christmas so I MUST buy all of the ones I’ve put in my cart. I’ve done much better this year, I will say! If you’re still needing a pair for yourself or your family, here are some options:

CHRISTMAS MOVIES: I’m confident that, at this point, you have watched at least a couple of your favorite holiday movies. I am guilty of watching almost all of my favorites so far: Love, Actually, Home Alone I & II, The Holiday, The Grinch, The Santa Clause, Christmas Vacation, etc. I am saving The Family Stone for Christmas Eve. That is one of my favorites but I try to table at least one to enjoy for the first time on that special night. Which ones do you love? Have you found any new ones this year that I need to know about?

GIVING BACK: This season is ALL about giving, but I think a lot of us get caught up in purchasing presents for our loved ones that we forget there are TONS of amazing causes out there that need gifts, as well. I have a soft spot for companies that train and develop service dogs for the men and women in our country that desperately need them to live independently. This season, I have made donations to America’s VetDogs and Guiding Eyes For The Blind.  I’ve also made a point to donate to St. Jude as I’ve done my shopping this holiday season. They are affiliated with stores like LOFT, Home Goods, and many more! The money they raise will go toward research to help develop medical advances that will benefit children plagued with childhood cancer all over the world [they freely share ALL the information they find to any medical facility throughout the country!] as well as financial assistance to families of those children receiving treatment at St. Jude so that THEY can be their focus and not the financial side of things. My friend, Katie, had a holiday party last night that I unfortunately had to opt out of due to illness but we all bring gifts for women and children who are victims of domestic violence and trying to get back on their feet. So, I will be dropping off some gifts to her to give to those who need it here in my community!

What causes are close to your heart? Have you found an organization to donate to? Please share in the comment section below!

I bought this Free People turtleneck tunic sweater that is literally the SOFTEST thing in the world. It would be an amazing outfit for NYE for the gal who is going to be out somewhere cold and just wants to look good and be comfortable! I styled it HERE for you to get an idea as to how I’d wear it! [Use the LIKETOKNOW.IT app to shop it!] Dress it up with a pair of statement earrings. Mine are currently 30% off with code GIVE30

If you want glam and form-fitting, I’d go with this short sleeve sequined number! It runs small so be sure to size down!

Black, gold, silver and the like are all too often what everyone wears for NYE but if you want to stand out, I’d grab this cute emerald green sequined romper! I’m slightly obsessed and am tempted to buy it myself but I already grabbed something to wear so …. MUST. RESIST.

Velvet is ALL the rage these days and if you want something a little more elegant, but different, I’d recommend this beautiful mauve sleeveless velvet dress! It’s definitely not something everyone can pull off but if you are curvy … you better consider it! You’ll be a knockout!!

If you want something a little more edgy, I found this sequined long sleeve black dress that would definitely suit the style! The price is perfect, as well!

Honestly, I never ask for anything. I don’t NEED anything but, for fun, I put together a couple of items that would be fun and practical to receive from Santa.

I’ve heard great things about the skin care line, Sunday Riley, and although I’m mostly set in the skincare department … I’ve read a lot about the benefits of lactic acid on your skin so I’d love to try this product out!

I can gravitate toward girly details on garments from time to time so, this sweater with a cute pink bow adorning it definitely caught my eye!

Y’all know my love for eyeshadow palettes and this one is intense in all the best ways! I’d love to try out some of these colors to switch out of my normal nude and brown routine.

I love these two-toned Nike leggings! It’s been a minute since I’ve been drawn to a pair of leggings. I feel like they’ve gotten kind of boring in the last few months but these are so cute!

So, I’m a brat and love all things white so I ordered this Nespresso pod holder on Williams-Sonoma when I saw it was on major sale. It is a little pricey, still, so this is the one I currently have and it suits the machine just fine if you’re looking for one and not wanting to spend a bunch on it! After all, it’s just sitting on your counter holding coffee pods, so I totally get it!

I know it’s been a minute since I’ve done a Friday Five but this one was a huge reminder how much fun they are to put together for y’all! I do hope to get one done a month in 2018! Let me know if you’d like that or not! Thanks for stopping by, y’all! Appreciate it so much! xo.

  5. So many great things in this post! So first, for the movies, I love a lot of the same ones as you. The Holiday is probably my fave! I do love Four Christmases as well. Now, as for the White Elephant gift. My mom’s job does this and she bought a cookbook that is hysterical and everyone wanted it. It does have some cursing in it–not sure if you or your family are okay with that but it’s really funny when you read the recipes inside. First, Love your blog! Love your insta stories! Second, recently just participated in a work White Elephant party. My WE gift I gave was scratch off lotto tickets. Who doesn’t love winning money?? It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, right??!! So, the kicker is, I bought about 9 real scratch off lotto tickets and 1 fake scratch off (they sell them at Spencer’s gifts). I watched my gift get stolen at least 6 times before the end of the game. It was hilarious watching the “winner” scratch off the fake ticket. We thought she was about to quit her job because of all the money she thought she won. Joke was on her. She did win $10, though.

OK LOVE this Fab 5 post…def would love to see them more often. But most importantly, THANK YOU for sharing your faith. We have become a society of very high sensitivity. Most people keep their faith (whichever one you choose) hidden in fear of offending someone. I love what you shared and I share the same sentiments. If someone stops following you because of it, it’s ok because it’s all part of God’s plan.

One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is hit up toy stores to pick up stuffed animals when they are cheap and on sale. I bring them to the local children’s hospitals and homeless shelters. It’s amazing what a little stuffed animal can do for a kid who is stuck in the hospital over the holidays, or one who doesn’t even have a roof over their head. ????
