The Four Summer Sunnies I Can’t Stop Wearing

Hello there, lovelies!

Over the past couple of years, I have gotten way too comfortable when it comes to sunglasses. I have found a few pairs that suit my face shape and overall style – typically tortoise shell, large and either square or slightly cat-eyed – and have stuck like glue to only that type. About a month ago, I was perusing mytheresa.com for bathing suits and Summer vacation accessories for my trip to Curaçao and came across these retro and sassy Saint Laurent cat-eye sunglasses and immediately fell in love! Of course, I was completely nervous to splurge on sunnies like this, being that they’re completely outside of my norm, but my experience with returning items to mytheresa.com has always been a breeze so I knew it would be no issue to return them if they didn’t suit me! So, I quickly moved them into my cart and hit the purchase button so as to not let myself get into my head too much!

Two days later, my mytheresa.com package arrived from Germany with my sunnies inside waiting to woo me! Let’s pause and give mytheresa.com a round of applause for having the ability to get packages to the U.S. in 48 hours at NO additional cost to the customer. I find that to be incredibly impressive especially after living abroad. It was impossible to receive a package from the States in less than FIVE days and, on top of that, I’d have to pay to have the package released for delivery. It is much harder for our friends abroad to shop our retailers so we are truly on the better end of the deal over here. After singing Hallelujah for how quickly they arrived, I opened the neatly prepared package and tried on my new sunnies and almost didn’t recognize myself. They added a chic, posh element to my look simply by putting them on. I wouldn’t say they are ‘everyday’ sunglasses but I think they are super fun for strolling along the promenade in the French Riviera or Miami Beach or heading down for a poolside or beachside cocktail with your girlfriends!

I decided to pair them with this coral blouse, my favorite white denim skinnies and pink loafers for our first night in Lisbon. What do you guys think?

After allowing these cat-eye sunnies to showcase my sassy side for a bit, I started to get inspired to try some other new Summer sunnies! Here are the three that I love and have gotten the most use so far!

Ray-Ban Round Double-Bridge Sunglasses

ray-ban round double-bridge sunglasses, sunglasses, sunglasses 2018, mytheresa.com, porto, portugal

These round Ray-Ban sunnies were actually the ones I fought to embrace the longest. I have had a love / hate relationship with round sunglasses ever since they started becoming trendy a couple of years ago. My best friend, Kristan, looks SO CUTE in them and I just look … weird, ha! I also just haven’t found a pair that I absolutely love but I found these on my recent trip to Italy and really liked the double bridge and blue reflector detail. So, after listening to Victoria demand I get them for 20 minutes while I mulled and mulled over them … I decided to concede. She thought I was being completely ridiculous and that they looked great on me so, I’m just trusting they do, ha! We all need to venture outside of my comfort zone stylistically sometimes, right?

You guys have seen me wear them on Instagram lately and I styled them with this look we just shot in Porto the other day! I found them on mytheresa.com, as well, and the price is comparable to the price you’d pay in the States.

Chloé Poppy Heart-Shaped Sunglasses

How adorable are these heart-shaped sunnies by Chloé? They’ve sold out at most of the popular online retailers in the U.S., which is knowing about mytheresa.com, is really important. European and American style is so different that a lot of the styles that we gravitate towards don’t sell as well in Europe which is great news for you when you are desperately searching for that ONE pair no one can find!

Chloé Carlina Round Sunglasses

Okay, so I’ve already spoken to my love / hat relationship with round sunglasses so go figure that I find these large-and-in-charge ones and, despite being almost positive they look so crazy and ridiculous on me, fall absolutely in love with them! I love how they fade from pink to blue – my two favorite colors – as well as the coil frame detailing. They’re extremely lightweight and always match my outfits as I tend to opt for whites, pinks and blues. They are the perfect pair of summer sunnies, also available at mytheresa.com, and are quite possibly my favorite out of these four!

Which pair are your favorite? What pair are you swooning over this Summer and / or challenging yourself to embrace? xo.

HEADS UP | I’m in Portugal for a few more days so be sure to follow on IG stories. All of my looks from the trip are being linked in the @liketoknow.it app as well as on my IG stories page. If you don’t want or have the @liketoknow.it app, you can also shop the looks without it on my IG Outfits page! Last but not least, email me any questions that you have for me vs. sending a DM. I want to make sure I get back to you and I typically lose questions easier on DM with so many coming through and not as much time to devote to getting back to you! I appreciate y’all stopping by today and hope you have a great Thursday!

• The coral blouse I’m wearing in the main outfit is currently 30% off! I’m wearing a size US 0 and runs true to size.

It would be helpful if you identified a sponsored post at the beginning because for some-they wouldn’t read it. It is kind of misleading to just have it at the end.

Hi Sally! It is certainly never my intention to mislead anyone so I do apologize you had that takeaway from the placement of the sponsored post disclaimer. I would, however, love to encourage you to not see the term ‘sponsored’ at the end of a blog post, on my blog and others’, to mean that the whole things is disingenuous … no matter where the placement of the disclaimer is. It’s a bit unfair as sponsored posts are part of mine, and many blogs’, business structure and any business needs to earn money to continue to operate. It’s the nature of the beast, if you will. I get hundreds of pitches a week from brands and to think I take them all for money is a little silly. I only pick the ones I truly find to be in line with my personal shopping habits and style, as well as beneficial and / or helpful to my readers! xo.

I didn’t say you took them “all for money”. You said that. I said it’s misleading to read something and get all the way to the end and realize you were paid to write about it. And take the right away from your audience to choose.
Which in all honesty, you blog for money AND there is NOTHING wrong with that! No matter your intent (which I honestly think you don’t take every offer thrown your way), it is misleading. Many other bloggers start a post off with introducing their “partner”.

I do not think it’s unfair to identify to your readers in the beginning of a post that you were paid to write about it-no matter how many/100s of offers you receive per week.

As you want the right to make money, your readers should be given the right to understand fully the intent behind the post.

      Hi Sally,

I don’t think it’s unfair to identify the sponsorship at the beginning, either. I’ve just always disclosed it at the end and have never thought it do it any other way. I wasn’t trying to intentionally take a right away from anyone. It was simply a matter of not ever having had this stance on the issue brought to my attention. For that reason, I always appreciate constructive feedback from my readers and, therefore, appreciate you bringing your opinion to light. I do hope that any future suggestions be shared with a little more kindness as this is a community of friends here. I will take your suggestion into consideration for future sponsored posts. Enjoy your weekend!

I think you should def learn how to take constructive criticism gracefully. You made plenty passive aggressive comments when I suggested that it would be helpful and I’ve seen you do that to others as well when something constructive is commented on your blog.

That’s not fostering a friendly space for friends to be rude every time a reader gives constructive criticism; to use your words, it’s silly.
