Get ready, get set … SHOP! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally open online! Today, Icon and Ambassador members can make their purchases and Early Access opens for card holders tomorrow! I am just getting home from shopping the sale in Chicago and, I have to say, while the sale is a little different than in years’ past and there are a few repeat products available again this year, I did find a lot of really great items, particular in the shoe department! For my first post to cover the sale, I am sharing my Early Access picks through some looks I put together from my purchases! Many of the items within these outfits are considered basics that can be worn over and over again throughout the Fall and Winter season! I really tried to be selective with these items so that y’all don’t get distracted by a bunch of fluff products that might be cute but you won’t get a ton of use out of.

These pajamas are always a favorite of mine from the sale, mostly because of how soft they are, and I particularly loved this gray and white version included this year! I always go one size down for the best fit.
Barefoot Dreams’ cardigans are also always a crowd favorite! I’ve actually never purchased one for myself, until this year. Because I already have quite a few neutral cozy cardigans in my wardrobe, I opted for the pretty olive green option of this one!

Madewell’s denim selections impressed me the most this year, which really surprised me because I don’t typically buy a lot of denim from the brand. However, all of the ones I snagged from the sale fit me the best, are all under $100, and have great quality! Go one size down in these.
These slides are amazing for travel and so so comfortable! So many of y’all ask me about travel shoe recommendations so this is definitely the one pair you need to snag, especially if sneakers aren’t your style!

STEVE MADDEN JILLIAN BOOTIE
These booties caught my eye because of the classic style, the low heel, and the color. Every gal needs a cognac bootie but … just like a brunette best friend … it needs a lighter, ‘blonder’ bestie to sit along side it in your shoe closet! 😉 There are days where the lighter taupe will just look better with your outfit and now is a great time to get a pair that won’t break the bank. I went with my normal size in these. They come in a few other colors, as well, if you already have a taupe colored bootie!

There are a lot of repeat basics but this is one of the ones that is new that I highly recommend because of how long it is. It makes it a perfect pairing to wear over leggings. I’m wearing it with jeans here but you’ll see what I mean in another outfit, toward the end of the try on! I am wearing an XS in this one. It’s a little loose on me, which I kind of like for a basic. I don’t want it to be hugging me.
Snag this hat before it sells out! The two hats that I snagged from the sale are seriously SO cute and I know I’m going to get SO MUCH use out of them!

This is the travel outfit I wore to Chicago the other day! The sweatshirt I’m wearing is made of a thin fuzzy material and so, so soft! Sadly, they didn’t include the hot pink color in their sale options but I recommend the sweatshirt regardless. I love having tops like this to be a little baggy and oversized so I would recommend sizing up! Also, hoorrayyyyy the SPANX leggings [always a hit!] are included again this year! You will wear them to death! They are so soft and look so flattering on!
To give y’all some shoe and handbag options from the sale for this look, I opted for these Nike sneakers – which take the cake for my favorite tennis shoes from the sale – and this Longchamp tote bag, which will NOT disappoint you if you decide to splurge on it! It was available last year in a beige color and I still wear it ALL the time!! The leather is soft and Longchamp is known for the time they put into making their products and the quality of the materials. It will last you for years! For the sneakers, go with your normal shoe size!

If you’re shopping for sweaters this year, I’d highly recommend this one. It pairs so well with the SPANX leggings I know I’ll continue to get so much use out of! If you don’t have a pair, you will surely get your money’s worth and now is the time to snag them! Go with your normal size for both.
These over-the-knee boots are one of the many reasons why the shoe department was a gold mine during this years’ sale! I think these are so beautiful. They are tall, stay up, and are the perfect color to pair with all your neutral sweaters this Fall and Winter season! They are a great price, too, at $159.90 – down from $239.95!
There weren’t very many handbags that impressed me this year. I’m being really selective about the ones I recommend to you this year. I think this MCM crossbody is a low-key front-runner! A lot of y’all may not know much about MCM but I’ve had one of their handbags in the past and y’all … these things are so well made! I gave you a little peek inside this one in the IG stories try-on haul so be sure to check that out!
This snakeskin trim hat is my other top hat pick and will definitely sell out!

These Madewell high-waisted skinny jeans are the pair of black denim that impressed me the most! They are so flattering and soft, hit right at the ankle, and have a raw edge at the bottom!
Let’s talk about these booties! I expect these to be the hottest shoe included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, so let’s talk about them!
VINCE CAMUTO GIGIETTA BOOTIE
These booties are so flattering on. I’ve always been a sucker for any shoe with a pointed toe. I think it is so sleek and sexy. Because I loved these booties so much, I was tempted to also get them in the snakeskin option, but I resisted. [I actually got these in the snakeskin option instead.] I haven’t had a chance to walk around in them for a long time so, I can’t speak to comfort just yet but they do run true to size and I am always able to keep Vince Camuto booties in my collection for up to three years thanks to the great quality of their shoes.

While this sweater might not be something everyone needs, I loved the colors so, for me, it was a must. I do think this is a sweater that will sell out fast because I have a feeling they didn’t order a ton of inventory on it. Go with your normal size!
I talk about my qualms with this pair of denim in my IG stories try-on haul so head there for more info but, basically, they stretched out quite a bit [so I’ll be returning them, personally] BUT … I do think they’ll work great if you can go one size down, especially since they’re so affordable at $38.90. I just don’t have that option.

I love the oversized fit of this striped button-up. It’s long enough to wear as a tunic, too, but I might go up one size if you expect to wear it like that over leggings. These boots are so comfortable! I know I could walk around in them for a long time because the heel isn’t too high! Go half size down.

I restyled the sweater and boots from the outfit above with this stunning pleated leopard skirt that I have the biggest crush on!! I am going to wear this all the time!!

Everything in this outfit is under $100! I absolutely love the color block detail of the sweater and these jeans really hug you in all the right places! I will be wearing these all the time! They’re so comfortable!

This is one of my top sweater picks from the sale! You’ll wear it over and over again! With cropped styled dominating the scene right now, this is one that will appeal to those of us who still love a good loose-fitting long sweater!

If you’re looking for great activewear options, I’d say consider the ALO, Nike and Zella options that are available this year! I’m not sure I’ll do a full post on activewear but here are the activewear pieces I purchased:
I wanted these leggings and this crop top but they didn’t have my size in either but both are SO cute and I may still snag the crop top online. The leggings were WAY too long on me.

I love that this basic black & white long sleeve tee gives you some extra length to work with so that this turtleneck sweater [one of my absolutely favorites from the sweater options available this year!] is appropriate to wear with these SPANX leggings. It makes it even more versatile! I got this turtleneck sweater in two colors, the cognac and beige! I love that these over-the-knee boots and this crossbody handbag pull the outfit together so perfectly!

Nordstrom always has the best selection of Patagonia during this sale! I love that they included this white jacket this year because I’ve had my eye on it for awhile and want to make sure my Winter wardrobe is super neutral for when I move to London. I have to make a smaller number of items work with more outfits and I think this white jacket will help me do that perfectly during the cold Winter months! I also would suggest these Patagonia jackets as they are always one of the items I grab for during those seasons, as well, to stay extra warm! They’re a great layering option under the jacket. I already have the white so I’m excited to have my Winter gear – at least for some days – completely covered, ha!

This luggage set will last you for years! I got mine last year and it has stood the test of time and lots of travel! These sneakers run REALLY wide! Go ONE AND A HALF sizes down! They’re also pretty wide so beware if you have a narrow foot! I wear a 6.5 and am wearing a 5 here. These sunnies are available in the sale in a pretty blue color!

Question about the madewell jeans with the slit at ankle – you say go down a size, but the website says true to size. Thoughts? Or what specifically about it made you decide to size down? (Waist, bootie, thigh, etc)

I have a few things in my Nordstrom wishlist, and keep adding. Some have disappeared before I can get them! I am looking at some cute sandals on sale (don’t want to say which ones typing with fingers crossed if typos here). I can’t follow on Liketoknowit b/c I don’t have a smartphone, you need the app. Everything looks so cute on you, and not too often do I see someone showing their adorable Pj’s have to add to the wishlist!
