Best of 2019: Most Popular Blog Posts

Over the last few years, the way in which influencers share their knowledge, recommendations and tips has drastically expanded and changed. I personally think it’s incredible that blogs aren’t necessarily required for one to be successful in this industry [although it’s still a really good idea to have one, in my humble opinion]. Everyone is juggling different things behind the scenes and I know, for me, balance was something I really struggled with in 2019. With the busiest travel schedule I’ve ever had and the introduction of a significant other into my life, I found consistency to be impossible. Despite all of that, you still came. You still checked out what I was able to publish and share this year and, for that … as well as so many other things … I am incredibly thankful! Here are the blog posts that you found the most useful and intriguing this year:

heads up: I took the liberty of excluding nordstrom anniversary sale, amazon prime day, and holiday gift guide posts as those are always at the top!

10. Life Update + What Being Pregnant In A Dream Means

This year was full of changes – some were wonderful and life changing [looking at you, John Martin] and some were really hard. I shared a few of the changes I was wrestling with during the Summer in THIS post and you guys were pumped to find out what they were. People also kept telling me they had dreams of me being pregnant [people I knew and some of you, too!] so I divulged what pregnancy dreams mean, too! You know … for your useless knowledge bank! 😉 I’m glad that you like these kinds of posts, to be honest. They are pretty therapeutic and fun to write so maybe I’ll do one a quarter in 2020.

9. Five Things I’ve Been Loving Lately

I remember writing this post and thinking you guys were going to think this post was so random! I hadn’t done Friday Five posts in so long and I didn’t have the energy to do one the evening I wrote it but, I did want to share a few things that I kept gravitating toward so I chose five. It could be fun for you to re-read now being that this was just on the brink of Spring. And, I think we’ll be experiencing some Spring fever soon so be sure to check it out if you never did before!

8. The Fall Boots & Booties I’m Loving This Year

To be honest, if this post hadn’t been on the list … I might have cried! It was SUCH a labor of love, hah! It was so fun, don’t get me wrong but … wow! There are so many shoes in this post. Fall is always the funnest for shoe shopping and always the most difficult so I am so glad this post served y’all so well! What was your favorite Fall shoe purchase? I think mine have to be my Golden Goose sneakers. I wore them SO much.

7. Question & Answer with Mr. London

Y’all were SO curious about Mr. London after I finally revealed him to you guys in THIS instagram post. I shared a little transcript of the Q&A we did on IG stories over the Summer on our way back from Barbados HERE. From the looks of the traffic, I’ve got a bunch of Nosey Parker’s following me, hah! But, seriously … one of the highlights of 2019 was [obviously meeting John but also] y’all’s insanely warm reception to him so, thank you! He’s had a lot of fun entertaining you guys over the past year, hah!

6. What I’m Looking For In A Future Husband

This was a completely impromptu post that I wrote after sharing that I went on a date during a trip to London in March. It was something you guys were so excited to hear about, especially those of you who were – like me at the time – desperate to find someone worth spending time with. I would never say I was someone who had a very strict list. I was picky and I had a list of non-negotiables that I’d like my future husband to have. This post was warmly received although some disagreed with having a list at all. Regardless of your stance, it’s a fun read so take a look if you missed it! Another post on singleness here.

5. Spring Try-On Haul

This isn’t something I normally do but clearly you guys enjoy it! I shared a few of the new Spring purchases I had received and styled them for you guys as a means for inspo! Let me know in the comments below if you’d like to see quarterly posts like this in 2020.

4. My Favorite Amazon Purchases So Far This Year

This does not surprise me in the slightest. You guys are obsessed with Amazon, just like me. You can find anything you need on there and get it so quickly. Check out a few of my favorites from Amazon in THIS post if you missed it. I also have an Amazon store-front that you can bookmark if you ever need it!

3. The Must-Have Packing Items For International Travel

I love being able to provide you with everything you need in one place and that is exactly what this post did for those of you who may be traveling internationally last year. I still use all of them on my travels but I may expand it soon and add a few more items. Have any suggestions? Leave any of your international travel must have’s in the comments below! I’d love to try them!

2. Where To Eat, Stay & Play In Cartagena, Colombia

My Cartagena, Colombia travel diary is the blog post I am the most proud of from 2019. It quickly became one of my favorite places I have ever traveled to. The people are so kind. The architecture is so beautiful. There are endless interesting and unique restaurants and bars. I couldn’t get enough. So, I wrote everything I could remember from the trip and I shared it here. I also took all of the images and edited them myself, something I’ve never done in a travel diary before. Please, please consider going to Cartagena in 2020. You will not regret it.

1. London Q&A #1: Why I Want To Move There + The Immigration Process So Far

In the beginning of the year, I knew this post was going to be absolutely necessary. I couldn’t talk about all of this visa stuff and not do a Q&A post. With so many new people joining the community this year, I know it was so helpful to have a post you could refer to to get up to speed on where this London love came from and why in the world I would go to such lengths to live abroad. If you’re new here and have been wondering about it all, be sure to check it out!

Alright, that does it! I hope you enjoyed this little round-up of the top blog posts of 2019 here on AlysonHaley.com. It will be interesting to see how 2020 plays out here. Over the last year or so, I’ve felt unmotivated and a little uninspired here on the blog. While I know I will continue to use this space to share with you, I do think I’ll be dividing my time between here and my YouTube channel. I think I just need something exciting and new [to me; I know YouTube is not a new thing hah!] so be sure to follow along over there if you’re interested! And … please leave your blog post requests below! I’d love to consider those! They may spark some inspo! Thanks so much for stopping by today, friends! Appreciate you being here! xo.

Thank you for maintaining a blog. While I’m not implying those influencers that don’t have one are lazy, I greatly appreciate the work that goes into the content of a blog. It’s much more tangible than Instagram stories and LTK. I did an Instagram detox in 2019, sharply curtailing my time and those people I followed. It ended in my unfollowing those influencers who do not blog!

Aw, thank you so much! It definitely takes a lot of time to maintain a blog in addition to also being present on IG and IGS so these words are so nice to read – not that you unfollowed people but that you appreciate the work that goes into this! Thank you for being here! I appreciate it! xo.
