If you a wine lover, I highly recommend visiting Porto. Porto is the birthplace of port wine, a sweet red wine, harvested mostly in the neighboring Douro Valley. I didn’t have a chance to do any wine tasting at the actual wineries in the Valley, but have heard amazing things and hope to experience it for myself one day!
Lisbon is the second oldest capital in the world, behind Athens, Greece. It is situated among seven hills so don’t forget to bring your sneakers!

Tipping 5-10% is standard for meals in Portugal as long as you are happy with the meal. You do not, however, have to tip for a coffee or other beverage.
Sintra is a quick 40-minute train ride from Lisbon and is essentially where all fairytales take place, in one of its many castles! It’s a must-see / must-do day trip during your time in Lisbon!
