Hi ladies!
I know you all have been counting down the days. We have exactly fourteen days – two weeks – until Valentine’s Day, one of my favorite holiday’s! Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Valentine’s Day is really one of your favorite holiday’s?” Yep! You read it right. If you have followed me for any length of time, it is pretty obvious that I love … love. And, not just romantic love. Sure, who doesn’t love a great, mushy love story? But that’s not what I mean. I just love love in general. I try my very best to live by the Bible verse: “Let all that you do be done in love“. Did you see the word all in there? That’s right, everything you do needs to be done in love, which means what you say, what you don’t say, how you react, what you do, what you don’t do, in every situation, in front of one person, in front of a room full of people … all of it. Show people grace, put aside your pride, put aside being right, and just show people love. It’s hard. I’m not a saint. I fail miserably, almost daily. But, if it’s something that we’re all aware of … and make a continuous effort at succeeding at … and treat every day like it was Valentine’s Day … I’m almost positive it would change the world.
Valentine’s Day is one of those holiday’s that most girls DREAD. But, why? I think it’s a disgrace that our society has encouraged this idea that a woman is incomplete without a man. Now, don’t get me wrong. We are not called to be alone forever, but there is a season for everything in life. My personal single season has been a little longer than I probably would prefer to it to have been, deep down, but regardless of that, and my feelings or emotions associated with that, I just refuse to embrace this ‘woe is me’ mentality. There is so much love to be celebrated in life. We cannot waste our single season. We won’t ever get it back! So, partner with the other women in your life and celebrate the love that you have with each other. If that’s not an option, take your mom out to dinner for Valentine’s Day. As you all can imagine, it’s more clear to me this year than any previously how precious and irreplaceable the love of a mother is. Spend time with yours! But do not believe that you are unworthy of being loved and, as a result, let it cripple you from giving your love to others.
As my gift to you, I have partnered with Belk to put together a wonderful gift guide to help you shower the special women in your life with love. Whether you are looking to spoil your mom, your best friend, your sister or, for any gentlemen out there who may be reading, the special lady in your life, I hope you find something that makes them feel special and wrapped up in your love! Happy Shopping, y’all!
With love and sequins,
