REAL TALK
And, one more thing … I just feel led to mention this because it’s been on my heart the last couple days. One of my pet peeves about social media is how everything seems so perfect in everyone’s world. Don’t get me wrong. I love pretty things, outfits, home decor, etc, etc. and it doesn’t really get me down. But, it almost seems magnified to me during the holidays because this time of year is all about family and togetherness, and let’s be real … not everyone’s family is peachy keen. Our generation is so connected, but yet so disconnected and that’s what I want you to remember. It’s so easy for us to paint a picture of what’s not really there. I just want anyone who might be struggling today, or tends to struggle more during the holiday season … for any reason … to know I am specifically praying for you and your heart. I’ll be honest. It’s when I struggle the most with the loss of my Mom and it’ll be challenging in certain ways for me this year as I reconstruct the reality of who is my immediate family. I’m not looking for pity by saying that because I’m not sad about it. I’m truly loving getting to know my new family members … I just want to rip the cover off of this facade that is painted sometimes. It’s easy to get down when you scroll through social media and you see everyone’s life seems perfect, but reality is … there are challenges in everyone’s life and everyone’s family. It’s there. For everyone. Lean in to the discomfort. God’s there. Keep your eyes open and choose joy. xo.

Thanks for your "Real Talk." I am new to your blog and you are so right about the appearance of a perfect life that it seems that many bloggers have. It does appear that many are just jet setters traveling the world in the most fabulous clothes and enjoying life, especially during the holiday season. Thanks for confirming that isn't always the case. I'm so sorry for your loss of your mom. I know that it can be devastating to loose a parent, as I lost my dad many years ago. I'm glad that I found your blog. Take care and thanks for sharing.

i always like when you share 'real life' with us. so few bloggers do that and sometimes it feels like we'll never get to know them. i hope you're able to adjust/enjoy the holidays without your mom this year and that it gets better from now on. i lust after what the majority of these bloggers have – whether it be a nice home decor, a nice bar cart, perfect make up and hair, clothes, etc…but in the reality of things, i know it took them 450506 photos before they found the perfect picture or that the rest of their house is a disaster, but said room is not. we as readers have to quit comparing ourselves to bloggers..not every aspect of their lives are perfect even if it seems that way across social media.
