Ever since Jacksonville opened it’s first ever Nordstrom back in October [see this post], it has been my ‘go-to’ destination for beauty products and fragrances. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s the perfect time to scoop up a few new additions to test out. [I know that makes some people nervous, and I don’t encourage frivolous spending, but that’s the beauty about what I do! I get to help you decide on what the best purchase would be for you based on my beauty product play time! Ha!] Last month, I scooped up some great new skin care products from Nordstrom [see my product review here], as well as a few new lip colors that I’ve been really loving. Today, I’ve highlighted my top four lip colors that would pair perfectly with your Valentine’s Day ensemble. I always encourage women to wear lip color! It’s the best way to complete your outfit … that and a smile, of course! I think it’s important for all of us to have a nude, hot pink, red, and purple/plum color in your collection. 

NUDE: This combination is tried and true, and if you’ve followed me on Instagram for awhile, you know this is true. I absolutely love the blend of these colors together. Fleshpot is a satin finish lip color, so it goes on smooth and the color is super rich. [NOTE: If you want to create a pretty light pink lip color, apply one stroke of ‘Saint Germain’ over ‘Fleshpot’ before applying the lip gloss.]

HOT PINK: I usually wear ‘Schiap’ when I want to wear a hot pink lip color, but I picked up ‘Candy Yum Yum‘ just to try it out, and I absolutely LOVE how vibrant it is. It’s definitely brighter than Schiap, but that’s what I was looking for and I honestly cannot wait to wear it with a tan! Ha! It is a matte lip color though, meaning there’s no creaminess to the formula and no shine upon application., so make sure you use a lip primer if you want to use this color but don’t prefer the matte finish.

RED: This is another matte finish lip color that is just packed with the most amazing pop of color, this time …. an orangey-red. I will be honest. I didn’t use a lip liner because I haven’t found the prefect lip liner to pair with this color. I’ve tried quite a few, and I just haven’t been satisfied with the pairing. So, when I find one, I’ll let you know. Just be really careful when you apply the color without a liner. Again, use the lip primer if you don’t like matte finish lipsticks.

PURPLE: Oh my gosh. Y’all. Tom Ford’s lipstick formula is insane. I love it. It’s light and creamy and the color is just gorgeous. I’m obsessed with the color ‘Jack’ that I’m wearing. If you have been looking for a great medium purple color, I highly highly recommend this one.

As far as fragrances, I am really, really picky. I get headaches pretty easily, so it’s quite a feat for me to find the best one. ‘Bright Crystal’ by Versace has always been my staple fragrance. It’s light and floral. I love, love it. I recently restocked an old favorite, ‘Daisy’ by Marc Jacobs, and I am OB-SESSED with ‘Flowerbomb’ by Viktor & Rolf. I’ve been wearing that one almost every day.
