Hey there, friends!
One of my most commonly asked questions have to do with the makeup I’m wearing … when I’m actually wearing makeup, ha! So, today, I’m really excited to finally share my everyday makeup routine. Of course, it varies depending on how much time I have in the morning but, more often than not, this is the routine I stick with. The thing that changes the most is the eyeshadow palette I use. They’re my guilty pleasure so I tend to switch that up every other day. The one I’m featuring in this video has a lot of neutral colors that I feel would appeal to most people so I used that one for today’s post!
Step-By-Step
STEP 1 // Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – A primer is supposed to be a natural buffer that keeps your makeup looking fresh all day! After trying many primers, I’ve found that this one actually does what it’s supposed to and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily.
HOW TO APPLY: I use my fingers but, I’m sure there are people out there who swear by a brush.
PRO TIP: Make sure you give your morning skin routine products time to absorb before applying your primer. You also want to give your primer time to absorb, however, in the video, for the sake of time, I moved on to the next step pretty quickly.
STEP 2 // Smashbox ‘Studio Skin’ Foundation – I’ve been using this foundation for over a year now. I love the even semi-matte finish and I love that it doesn’t make my skin feel like it has cement on it. Depending on the time of year, I use either 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3.

HOW TO APPLY: I use the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush to apply my foundation.
STEP 3 // Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector – If you’re extra tired, use this to help your dark circles magically disappear! It’s such a great product.

HOW TO APPLY: I use the MAC ‘195 Concealer Brush’ to apply this product.
STEP 4 // Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’ Waterproof Concealer – I use this concealer to cover up the darkness under my eyes. The formula is smooth and full-coverage. It’s also waterproof. I use the colors Light Neutral or Medium Neutral depending on the time of year.

HOW TO APPLY: I use a beautyblender® to dab this product into my skin.

STEP 5 // Tarte Shape Tape – This is the best beauty product I own, in my opinion! It is full coverage and does such a good job of highlighting your under eye area. I use the color Fair Neutral.

STEP 6 // L’oreal Paris ‘Infalliable’ Pro-Matte Finishing Powder – I use this setting powder to set my Smashbox Foundation.
HOW TO APPLY: I use the Real Techniques Powder Brush.
STEP 7 // Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – I use this setting powder to set my under-eye concealer.

HOW TO APPLY: I use the itCosmetics Fully Flawless Foundation Brush.
STEP 8 // Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit – I’ve used this contour kit for years now. I love the warmth that the bottom right bronzing powder has. It’s also easy to blend into your skin allowing it to look really natural.

HOW TO APPLY: I use a Chanel Contour Bronzer Brush, however, it is old and no longer available anywhere. I swear I’ve looked everywhere. The newest version of this brush by Chanel can be found HERE. I also use THIS blending brush to apply contour to the edge of my nose.
STEP 9 // MAC Powder Blush in ‘Margin’ – This is a great neutral powder blush that will warm up your face. It has a little shimmer to it, as well, which I like.
HOW TO APPLY: I use a MAC Blush Brush. The one I’m using in the video is old and no longer available. The newest version of this brush by MAC is HERE.
STEP 10 // MAC Highlighter in ‘Global Glow’ – I love a good highlight along my cheeks and this one is the one I tend to grab more often than not.
HOW TO APPLY: I use the Trish McEvoy Fan Brush.
STEP 11 // Anastasia Beverly Brow Wiz in Soft Brown – I’ve been using this mechanical eyebrow brush for a few months now and I really like it. Since I got my eyebrows microbladed, I don’t need much. It adds just enough color.

STEP 12 // Violet Voss Eyeshadow Palette in Taupe Notch – This was a purchase from last years’ Sephora Sale and I am so glad I snagged it. It has so many great neutral brown colors that I love to mix and play around with. Some are matte and some have shimmer.

COLORS I USED IN VIDEO: ‘Elite’, ‘Bestest’, ‘Extra’ & ‘VIP’
BRUSHES I USED FOR APPLICATION: THIS for ‘Elite’, THIS for ‘Bestest’, THIS for ‘Extra’ and THIS for ‘VIP’
BRUSHES I USED FOR BLENDING: I use a firm blending brush first then switch to a not-to-firm blending brush.
STEP 13 // L’oreal Paris ‘Carbon Black Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner’ in Black – This has been my ride-or-die, holy grail drug store beauty product since college and I haven’t quit it yet! It makes applying liquid eyeliner so easy. It was a little hard for me to see what I was doing in the video so I apologize if it wasn’t the best eyeliner tutorial but, I hope you get the idea!
STEP 14 // Lancome ‘Le Crayon Kohl Eyeliner Pencil’ in White – I have been loving the switch I made to white eyeliner on my waterline a few months ago! It totally brightens up my face and makes me look wide awake!
STEP 15 // Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara – This is – hands down – one of the best mascara’s I’ve ever owned. It goes on so easily, has the best applicator and doesn’t flake off throughout the day! And it’s currently on sale for $11.50! It’s normally $23!

Hi Jackie! It’s totally an investment. You have to invest in a piece here and there and build up your arsenal. It’s hard to say what I’d start with .. but I’d say probably the foundation and concealers. 🙂 It’s a good base!

I haven’t tried the primer, but I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer as my usual everyday makeup! It gives a little coverage while improving the look of my skin so I’m all about it- plus, I have an 18 mo so I don’t have a lot of time for a makeup routine! lol
Loving all these products. Definitely want to try the Becca under eye brightener because I have the worst dark circles. Loveeee everything though and hope your feeling well.

Loved this everyday tutorial! I’ve used the smash box foundation for over 2 years now and I totally think it’s an underrated foundation! It’s AMAZING. Love the brow wiz as well! Your recent blog post about your struggles in Denver, starting up your blog, finding your faith in Christ and spending time with your mom (which brought me to tears), would be a perfect starting point. I mean, that post was POWERFUL. You really understand the meaning of self-worth and I’m sure there are a lot of girls and young women who are struggling with self worth an would benefit from hearing about your exoerience. It’s just that it’s not easy to take such life changing experiences and write them down in a way that connects with and moves other people and I think you really have a talent for that. Loved watching the whole makeup process. That takes a lot of patience -which I definitely don’t have in the mornings when I’m getting ready for work/school. Of the eye products you used for under eye application which would you say is the most important? I’ve definitely had trouble over the years finding something to cover under eye bags, genetic and signs of being tired. I have olive undertones and I always have the hardest time finding something that works for me!
Hey Kristin! I honestly just find putting my makeup in the morning really relaxing. I just zone out and listen to a podcast while I get it done but, to answer your question, for your olive complexion, I would suggest an orange color correcting concealer to combat your dark circles. It counteracts with the purple / blue tones of that discoloration to even out your skin tone. You just apply it and then dab it in with a beauty blender. You can then apply your normal concealer, one shade lighter than your skin tone, on top of that then set it with powder. I can’t live without my too faced mascara, it’s the best! I will say though if you’re looking for a drug store alternative loreal’s lash paradise gives it a run for its money. Also I love using the banana powder in the ABH contour kit to set my under eye. It really brightens it up and gives you that wide awake look 🙂

Seriously never thought about using another concealer and brightener under my Shape Tape. That stuff is magic but I’m about to go out and try it!
Also, I used to swear by the the Brow Wiz but switched to the Benefit easy glide pencil about a year ago. I feel like it’s less waxy and has more staying power. I also have blonde eyebrows though that need the help!

I use their real by benefit I believe it’s called and I have like no eyelashes and it does wonders for me but I’m nervous to purchase the better than sex mascara just because it’s pricey and I like what I have but also realize that the too faced mascara could be better, I’m torn lol! Also I haven’t followed you for too long but I do enjoy the new setup and not having to keep scrolling to look for blog posts! Hope your recovery is going well and keep being you! ?

Lately I’ve been self conscious being 8 months pregnant and trying to find a concealer that covers my dark circles and creases while my face has grown swollen and puffy! Almost nothing works but I continue to hear so many amazing things about the tarte shape tape concealer! I’ll have to try it.
I loved your most recent story talking about your love language. My husbands is also words of affirmation and physical touch ! Mine is acts of service and quality time! It’s so interesting knowing words of affirmation is probably near the bottom of the list where acts of service is near his bottom. I’ve never been touchy feely but he loves cuddling and hugs and is super affectionate. We’ve been together 6 years and at first that was so hard for me but now I desire his love language because he needs it.. like he does for me. They say marriage is a circle right?!
