Hey there, friends! This year, one of my professional aims is equip you with more knowledge on how to curate a wardrobe you’re proud of. From what I’ve gathered over the last week, you seem to be drowning in ‘stuff’ that you bought on impulse. These purchases have left you with clothes you don’t know how to style, too many options to where getting dressed is overwhelming, clothes that don’t go with anything in your wardrobe, the list goes on and on. You’ve made it clear that you need some help. I’m going to do my best to curate some content around helping you with some of these issues. Today, I want to share my number one tip for making smart wardrobe purchases. If you cannot think of three ways to wear the item in question, do not make the purchase. The new items you bring into your wardrobe should solve a problem and fill a gap, not cause or create one .
One of the wardrobe gaps that I currently have is nice blouses. While I love wearing casual outfits, almost everyday, I find myself craving a classier and more sophisticated style. The great thing about blouses is that they can be dressed up or down ensuring they will be a versatile and much loved piece in your wardrobe. I love how this one looks with these straight leg jeans I got from Nordstrom and have been wearing like crazy. I think it’d even look really nice with a nice pair of loafer or ballerina flats. You guys know I love this pair, especially being that it made my most worn items of 2019!
If you’re struggling with this gap in your wardrobe, as well, here are a few options from Nordstrom:
Another gap that I had in my wardrobe was straight leg jeans. I’ve been looking for the best, most flattering pair and, for me, I opted for this high-waisted pair. [NOTE: I’m in the ’20 years duplicity’ wash] They hit right at my ankle, which I had a hard time finding, personally. This denim trend is all the rage right now and I think it will be around for awhile because it’s flattering on so many different body types. I recommend buying a wash that you feel your style is the most in line with. If you’re a little trendier, maybe grab a distressed pair. If you’re more of a classic, snag a clean pair like mine. They’re a little pricey so, if you’re wanting to spend less than $100, be sure to check out Levi’s. They always have great quality denim!
I love that I filled two of the gaps with my wardrobe and was able to style them together with two items that I’ve not only had in my wardrobe for awhile but y’all have seen me wear a ton! Not only that but I can easily style these in three ways. Maybe I’ll share those today with you guys on stories! If you’re ever looking for filling the gaps in your wardrobe, be sure to head to Nordstrom. They always have a wide variety of brands, styles, and size options throughout their site. If something doesn’t work out, you can simply return it by mail for free! It’s super simple.
Has this tip helped any of you who may have gotten really carried away with impulse shopping over the last year or so? I know it has definitely helped me and it’s something I’ll be really striving to remember when my London chapter does finally begin. I will NOT have a lot of space to store clothes so I will need to be VERY, VERY picky. Let me know if you have any smart shopping tips in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by! xo.
