Hello, hello! Happy Monday!
My assistant, Lyndsey [the silly girl in most of my snapchat’s], and I scooted out of town for a getaway to Asheville, NC, which is actually where my Dad’s side of the family is rooted. My papaw was born and raised here. He lives in Mississippi now but comes back to visit his younger brothers from time to time. It’s been, I’d say, almost 15 years since I’ve been back but I remember coming up for huge family reunions in the mountains and visiting the homes they were raised in. So, I’m really excited to be back and explore on my own, particularly the Biltmore. It was one of my mom’s favorite places. She thought it was so beautiful. I have a picture of her on a staircase outside of it somewhere … Let’s hope she guides me to it tomorrow, when we go, so I can recreate the photo 😉 It’s such a huge property so … not gonna get my hopes up, but, would be pretty cool to have.
Anyway, we got in yesterday afternoon and enjoyed driving around, getting a feel for Asheville s culture and personality which, so far, seems to be very eclectic, artsy, and laid-back. We walked around downtown for a bit, took these photo’s in this cute little square, made note that we are definitely hitting up Tupelo Honey for breakfast one morning and then headed over to the lovely Renaissance Hotel to check in before heading to dinner at The Admiral [highly recommend!].
My favorite part so far, though, has been the weather. There’s not much to complain about when you live two minutes from the beach, and I realize that but, over the past four or five years, I have this yearning to live somewhere that has all four seasons. I definitely got that when I lived in Denver, and it was awesome — except in April. I cried in April when it snowed. Ha. But, for the most part, the changing colors of the Fall and the quiet after a fresh snowfall are things I wish I got to experience more. Probably just another one of those ‘you always want what you don’t have’ kind of situations, you know?
I enjoyed bundling up in this fawn colored coat, which I’ve been waiting ever-so-patiently to wear. I forgot to bring it with me to Chicago. It’s super cozy and 25% off right now, actually! [FIT: True to size; I’m wearing a size 0 and had to get it sized down to a 00] Last week, I wasn’t necessarily looking for new sunglasses but these Valentino cat-eyed babies from Nordstrom caught my eye. I particularly love the rockstud detail. It’s unexpected and different. I started looking through Nordstrom’s under $100 selection and found quite a few that I thought were super cute. I threw them on a style board for y’all to check out just in case you’re looking for a new pair this holiday season for yourself or a loved one!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, y’all! Really appreciate it! I hope you have a great start to your week!
Oh! And, over the weekend, I shared a gift guide for the man/men in your life! My hope is that you have at least one [brother, father, husband, boyfriend, etc] in your life that makes you feel safe, unconditionally loved and endlessly revered … be sure to spoil him and let him know how much you appreciate it.
With love & sequins,
Haley
