Tips For Shopping Black Friday
ASSESS YOUR WARDROBE, HOME, AND BEAUTY ARSENAL FOR GAPS
There’s going to be a lot of pretty things that are going to be flittering around in front of your face during the next few days. Following this first tip will help you figure out what you should be allowing to steal your attention and take your money. You must arm yourself and you’ve got to do the work of figuring out what these gaps are in order to do so.
MAKE A LIST OF NEEDS AND WANTS
It’s okay to have wants. We all have them. However, the needs are what take priority and it’s important to purchase your needs items first before heading to the wants list. Remember, a need is an item that serves a larger purpose and you would get a significant amount of use out of. Needs are classic items. They’re a wardrobe or household staple. These are things that will make the price per wear worth the price you spend up front because you will get so much use out of it and will be in your home or in your wardrobe for years to come! Being selective about your purchases is really important but you can’t do that unless you know what your gaps are and you have a list at hand. Clearly define what is a need and what is a want before you start your shopping to ensure you make the best purchases for you!
SET A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT
This is something that can be so hard for so many of us who love to shop but, I promise you, it is so worth it. As my Dad always used to say to me growing up, ‘money doesn’t grow on trees so you have to be careful how you spend it’. And, it’s so true. I’ve learned it the hard way. All of the beautiful things in the world are not worth the debt you can easily accrue by trying to have it all. Black Friday is one of those times of the year that is so tempting for some people to spend outside of their means and I am here to tell you that it is truly not worth it. There are very few things we actually need and most of them you likely already have. So, spend wisely, friends! Make solid investments. Look at the materials you’re buying. If you live somewhere cold, spend a little more to invest in higher quality merchandise. I’m getting more and more passionate about this topic as I learn about what the fast fashion industry is doing to our world. Maybe we can chat about that more someday but, for now, those are my tips on having a successful Black Friday! Ha!
