As much disbelief as there is in my head over my new age,

there is just as much excitement.

With twenty six great years behind me,

I have a feeling that this year will be one of my most memorable,

full of new friendships, adventures and … risks?

Yep. Risks.

Some people don’t take risks.

But I’ll go ahead and say that I do.

I put myself out there 

knowing the situation could fail.

I make it sound really scary,

like the glass is always half-empty

or something.

But, no.

I think it’s important to take risks,

because I believe it’s those risky situations

that present you with the best lessons, and even gifts, in life.

Example: 

I consider my saying “YES” … to a woman

asking if I could foster a lost puppy that she found

while she tried to find its owner

… a HUGE risk.

I had never been responsible for anything LIVING,

other than myself, ever!

Nor had I mentally or financially prepared myself for the venture.

But, it is, hands-down,

 the BEST decision I have ever made.

Because that woman never found his owner.

And that lost puppy became mine.

And, you will come to know that Fish is my little everything,

my best little friend,

my greatest blessing.

Today marks,

not only my birthday,

but my next risk …

the announcement of this blog via social media

(Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc).

Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal,

but any new adventure you agree to embark on

has this element of risk,

making it exciting

and scary

all at the same time.

And, this … is no different.

But,

because I know no other way of dealing with risk,

I’m just going to throw those fears by the wayside

and go for it!

So,

here we go.

Let the adventure BEGIN!
