my name is Haley
and I’m a shoe hoarder.
Okay, okay …
the number of shoes doesn’t even come close
to closing me into my room
and off from the rest of human life,
and there’s no small pathway
that leads to my door
because there are mounds of shoes everywhere.
My shoes are, however, spilling out over the edges
of a basket in my closet,
which says, to me, says that I have a serious problem.
(Before I go any further, I feel the need to admit
that, yes, the basket was a horrible idea in the first place.
Who puts all their shoes in a basket?
It’s like I’m ASKING to be frustrated
every time I go to find the pair that I want to wear.
There’s no rhyme or reason for the things I do sometimes.)
Today is the first day of Spring,
