We are in the midst of my absolute favorite time of year, and I’ve teamed up with Pottery Barn to get my bar cart in order for the big day! As a nurse, I’ve worked my share of Christmas’s and, as much as I really shouldn’t complain, it really is tough to not be with your family on such a special holiday. A couple year’s ago, though, I got called off of work on Christmas morning, and I inadvertently started a holiday tradition that I hope to carry on through the years. I was so excited to have been called off on that morning, that I popped a bottle of champagne and made my parents and I mimosa’s [along with a huge breakfast casserole, but I’ll save that for another blog post]! Now, I know that’s not super original or anything, but that’s just not something we usually did, but Christmas morning really is a morning to be celebrated. It’s the fulfilled promise that Jesus would come on a rescue mission to save us from ourselves. That calls for champagne in my opinion. Low and behold, that would be the last Christmas I would share with my Mom, so it means so much more now in retrospect. This year, I’ll be adding another drink to the mix, ‘the poinsettia’. I think it’s the perfect festive holiday cocktail, and super SUPER easy to make! Check out the recipe below and be sure to stop in to your local Pottery Barn for some great festive bar cart necessities!

“The Poinsettia”
[makes one cocktail]
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
½ oz. Triple Sec [optional]
Stir well, then fill to the brim with champagne.

[P.S. For all my ‘technical’ girls out there … I know that mimosa’s and poinsettia’s should go in flutes, not wine glasses, but … I personally drink more wine than champagne so, until I get a bigger bar cart, wine glasses it is. 😉 ]

“Here’s my advice – have a little faith and, if it doesn’t work out, have a lot of mimosa’s!”
