Hi friends! I’m home! I’m home! And … I’m so happy 🙂 Traveling is fun and eye-opening. I am so grateful for the ability to go here and there every so often but, there’s no place like home! Amiright? Or amiright?? I picked up Fish THE.SECOND. I got in to town yesterday and haven’t let him out of my sight since. I’ve missed him so much!
I ordered this dress last month because I loved the color and the ruffle sleeve detail. I decided to wear it to an event at the rewardStyle conference, and thought it’d be fun to add in a few other bright colors because … why not? This is the time of year to really embrace those bright colors so let go and just have fun when you’re styling your outfits! You never know what fun combo you will end up loving …
When accessorizing bright colored garments, a good rule of thumb, especially for beginners, I’d recommend you stick with whatever colors are within the palette that the garment is.
>> FOR EXAMPLE: This dress is lime, which is a bright cool color, so I stuck with other cool colors, like greens and blues. If this dress were coral, I’d probably pair it with other warm colors that would compliment coral, like dark pink or orange necklace or earrings. When picking your neutral, I’d recommend going darker with warm colors [i.e. cognac] and lighter with cool colors [i.e. beige; see how I’m wearing beige shoes??] <<
So, with this dress, I went with my chunky turquoise necklace along with my new turquoise ring that I love, along with a teal green purse [reviewed in THIS post from last week]. All of these together might seem like a little much to some but … I really liked all of the colors together.
The rule I recommended is not the end all, be all. I would, personally, wear light pink accessories with this dress because I think lime and light pink look beautiful together. Similarly, one of my favorite color combinations is bright red or coral with turquoise, but I’ve had girls tell me they sometimes don’t know what colors ‘pair well’ together so, if that’s you … my rule is a safe bet for you! 😉
If bright colors aren’t your thing, or you’d like some other ruffle detail dress options, here you go:
I am going to be spending the day getting my roots touched up, printing out and filing tons of receipts from the last couple of weeks, culling through pictures from Europe to edit and put in posts, prepping for a meeting I have tomorrow morning, put together tomorrow’s blog and I also need to shoot a couple of looks with Miguel this afternoon. Just sharing in case y’all wonder what we bloggers do during the day besides Snapchat 😉
I hope y’all know how much i appreciate you stopping by the blog today!
