How I Decorated My Christmas Tree For Less

Hi there, friends!

Ever since I was little, the act of decorating the tree for Christmas with my family was an exciting and special one. I loved that we did it all together, my brothers, Mom and Dad, while listening to Christmas music, picking fights over which box of colored ornaments we were going to hang on the tree and laughing at all of the old hand-made ornaments we had made when we were younger. It was always on this day that marked the start of the exciting anticipation that exists throughout the season in the hearts of children. What’s not to love?

Since I live by myself with the boys, Christmas tree decorating is much quieter these days than back then but not any less special. Over the past couple of years, I’ve really enjoyed this flocked 7 foot tree I purchased from Walmart. It’s super easy to put together and put away at the end of the season. Since my ceilings are pretty high, I contemplated getting a 9 foot tree this year but I blame the quality of this one. It’s so pretty, so I decided not to mess with perfection. I wanted to switch up my holiday color scheme this year. Last year, I went with a cross between cozy and glam, mixing textures and incorporating unconventional holiday colors like pink and pops of deep purple mauve. [You can see it all here] This year, I wanted to go with the same overall theme but decided to stick to white, gold, silver and mix in a little bit of burlap and rustic touches.

There’s a new Walmart in Jacksonville so last weekend, I decided to go check it out and see what their Christmas decor selection looked like! Let’s just say I came out a winner! I ended up buying almost all of my Christmas tree decor, wrapping paper and accessories as well as faux fur blanket turned tree skirt there! Walmart is one of those places that literally has anything and everything you could need for a project. They also had a wide variety of options to consider and use as inspiration. They have even more options on their website, as well! As always, Walmart’s prices are fair and reasonable and, while these items aren’t currently on sale, the overall total made me feel like they were.

I also found everything I bought in the store online, plus even more! They had an amazing selection of holiday wrapping paper online as well as an extensive tree selection, if you’re looking for a new one! Aside from great prices, I’m so happy with the quality of all of the items I purchased, as well. If you decided to make your purchases online [I get it. Crowds are crazy this time of year!], know that you will find everything you need with extreme ease and you’ll receive free shipping when you spend more than $35!

Right when I got home, I opted to throw on my new joggers and plain white tee that I snagged and get to work! [Sizing info: Both items run big. Go one size down if you can!] It was so fun and my home is officially decked out and ready for the holiday season to begin! Now’s the best time to grab some of these decor items so you can get to decorating right after you arise from your glorious Turkey Day coma.

Happy Holiday, friends! xo.

Read the reviews for the joggers they weren’t very good. What size did you get? What did you think of them?

I wouldn’t say they’re terrible. They’re very standard joggers. They’re big on me because the smallest size they have is a small. So, they were loose and comfortable but they aren’t the best pair I own. However, I don’t think they’re a terrible pair considering they’re under $15!

I love how flocked tees look. A couple years ago I sent my husband out to buy a tree and he came back with a 9 ft monster original green. Although I love the grandness of it let me tell you that it is not easy to put together. I’m 5 ft tall and even when using a ladder it gets heavy. Now I want to go out and buy a smaller one but not sure if I should since were traveling all through the holidays. So great decision sticking to the smaller one. XOXO

Hey Haley, is this the same tree you used last year? Last week I looked for your previous Christmas tree post on LIKEtoKNOW.it and it took me to a 7.5’ Holiday Time tree at Walmart which is a different one than the one linked here. I’m trying to decide between the two. Thanks!
