simplified sequins

I’m not sure if this is a common misconception,
but I think it was mine …
{before I frequented the mall on the regular,
made ravaging through style magazines a hobby
and knew every online store’s shipping prices by heart}
… that sequins, in regards to applying it to your wardrobe,
was meant for holiday parties and festive occasions.
But, that is absolutely not the case, y’all!
It can be incorporated into your wardrobe all year long.
Right now, if you meander the mall,
you will find spring appropriate, colored sequins
covering tank tops and sleek high-waisted skirts,
as well as patterned mini skirts that have sequins
used as accentuating embellishments (see below).
Wearing sequins definitely grabs peoples attention,
and that can make some people a little nervous.
So, I can understand how wearing sequins might not be your thing.
It can drive your mind to a place like Vegas,
or the word trashy ..
.. high-maintanence even.
I personally LOVE sequins
(I mean, helllooo! What’s my blog’s name again?)
but I have a huge problem with the message it could potentially send,
which is, in part, why I paired this awesome aztec sequined skirt
with a very casual, plain white tee.

I think there’s even more that I could have done with this outfit,
like paired it with a light tan cardigan or a denim jacket,
but Florida’s weather doesn’t always agree
with my eager willingness to add layers.
So, to complete this look,
I added a couple necklaces
that I felt paired well together.

I think what we wear reflects who we are,
and I think I know myself pretty well,
and Vegas, trashy and high-maintanence
are far from my top 5 adjectives.
I consider myself to be a pretty easy going person,
but also really girly
(which does NOT equal high-maintanence, people!!!).
I think this look incorporates both.
Sequined, yet simple.
