Happy last blog post of the year, friends! I’ve never been so relieved for a year to be wrapped up and in the books as I am for 2020. Don’t get me wrong, there were a few bright spots, but let’s just say I’m welcoming 2021 in with open arms, hah!
And with the New Year, of course, comes New Year’s Eve! I’ve been thinking about NYE a lot lately as it’s such a fun holiday but is typically centered around big parties, going out with groups of friends and dressing to the nines. It’s wasn’t immediately clear if those ideals fit in with a 2020 New Year’s Eve celebration for obvious reasons, but I decided even if I, or you girls, are celebrating at home, getting a little glammed up would still be fun. So, I decided to put some outfit inspiration together, but don’t worry! There are options for you more casual girls, as well.
In my mind, I’m thinking NYE vibes from the movie The Holiday. Remember that last scene where it’s just the four of them [the two couples] and the little girls? And even though it’s just them at home they all still look absolutely gorgeous in their dresses and suits. Anyway, that’s what I imagine celebrations being like this year if that makes sense, which is why I chose this look to photograph for this post!
First, I have to say, I absolutely love my skirt [on major sale but sizing is limited so I linked similar options below]! I feel like it embodies everything a glam NYE look should be and it just makes my heart so happy. It’s not maternity but as you can see it works perfectly with the bump. I just went up one size! I paired it with a cashmere turtleneck from last year [linked similar] that gives the look a touch of that coziness that you want for the cold temperatures – even if you’re not leaving the house!
The coat is one I snagged from ASOS recently and it’s that perfect winter white faux fur. Honestly, it’s so perfect for the holiday season I’m bummed I didn’t get to wear it more but I’ll definitely be wearing it more in the years to come! There are always similar styles released so I’ll be sure to keep y’all up to speed on those so you can snag your own! Although, this one is still available in the UK!
If you’re after a bit of sequin for NYE, I sourced a few beautiful options for you! One of my favorites I stumbled upon a few weeks ago is this long sleeve velvet tie-waist dress. It’s extremely similar to the one I wore last year that’s no longer available. I’m also very into this gold sequin dress [love the faux sash detail] and this black one with more pronounced shoulders – it’s very on-trend. I linked a few sequin pant options below too that I thought would be fun if you don’t want to wear a dress!
Okay, now for the casual girls! I thought maybe a metallic legging could be fun paired with a sweater or even this “cheers” graphic tee. Or, if you’re planning to wear denim, you can still add a touch of sequin with this top that’s under $50!
There are so many different directions you can go with your outfit, even if you are staying home. 2020 has changed so much for everyone, I just thought our NYE was one thing we could take back and still enjoy!
I hope you all have a great night celebrating the New Year. Thanks so much for sticking with me this year through all the change, it really means so much and makes my heart so happy. Cheers to 2021! xo.
