Hi, friends! Happy Tuesday, from the Bahamas! We are enjoying our first family trip to the ocean this week and I have to say, this Florida girl has missed the sun and the sand! Louie is absolutely loving being a little adventurer!
Speaking of adventures, have you caught the Rome travel vlog? It was my first go at it so I hope it’s fun and helpful but also will be trying to make them better and better as time goes on. If YouTube isn’t your thing, maybe head to the Rome Recap blog post I did – it highlights where we stayed and ate! Today, I thought I’d share what was in my suitcase. If you ever find yourself taking an early spring trip to Rome, maybe this little recap will be helpful. Check out the graphic below for a little peak and then continue scrolling for a more thought-out recap of why I packed what I did! Hope it’s helpful!
Outerwear Pieces
The amount of times I have worn this cashmere cardigan has made the investment worth it already! It is great to toss on over almost anything. Or, for a chillier morning or evening, I belted it each time and was perfectly warm without any additional layers. If the price point is a little steep for you, I get it! I found this option that is very similar and under $50!
The other outer piece I grabbed for and packed was this camel wrap coat from one of my favorite retailers. I have worn it for two years in a row now and still love it just the same! If you’re looking for some variety, maybe bring a wool/cashmere wrap. This one is a splurge but it is so cozy! And during the day when it gets a little warmer, it is easy to toss in your bag! For a lower price point, this one is a great option as well!
Basics
It takes being here almost no time at all to learn that I am a professional in the basics department. Something about a white crisp tee or long-sleeve henley that will always, always call to me! It is such an elevated yet effortless look and, as an additional bonus, you are always sure to be comfortable! Which, while traveling and doing lots of walking is something very important to me! These white jeans are first up and let me just say, wow! The stretch these give is incomparable. When eating as much pasta as we did, I knew I needed something that had a lot of give and these won me over by a mile. The price point is a little higher than I normally spend but, I know because of the color and wear, these will be a pair I grab for years to come! If the price point is making you see stars, not to worry! This pair is just as gorgeous and only $130!
This smocked gauze top was dying to be worn as well! It pairs great with dark denim, white wide-leg jeans, or would even be adorable with a cute midi silk skirt for a dressier dinner out. It comes in some really adorable Spring colors as well. Thinking of adding the pink one to my closet as we all know my love for blush in the Springtime!
I cannot say enough great things about this crewneck sweater you see in the images. It is under $50 and comes in some really great basic neutral colors. It is a perfect layering piece. As you can see, I decided to pair it with my cashmere waterfall cardigan here but, it can go with anything in your closet, it is so versatile.
Lastly, these mid-rise white denim skinny jeans were probably the pant I pulled for the most while in Rome. I know skinny jeans aren’t as popular as they once were but, that isn’t stopping me. I need comfort and they are what I am most comfortable in! If I told you they were under $50 would you believe me?! They are so good, y’all!! I paired mine with this adorable top to visit the Trevi fountain and it was a perfect outfit not only for the weather but for all of the walking we did.
Shoes
Shoes might be the most important thing you reach for while packing for a trip to Rome. There is a lot of walking and a lot of cobblestone in your future! I knew I had to bring a sneaker so, I opted for this neutral option and they stood the test of time for sure! They are under $100 and come in every color combination you can think of so something for everyone’s style!
Next up, were these pointed leather sock boots. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous to wear these. But, surprisingly they didn’t totally kill my feet and the perfect cherry on top was they matched with the belt I decided to splurge on a few weeks prior!
Last, but certainly not least, is the tried and true ‘Loraine’ loafer by Sam Edelman. I just re-ordered a new pair of these because the last ones I had were so worn. I mean, I wore them into the ground! They are the perfect neutral option that isn’t a sneaker or sandal. They give any outfit an elevated & sophisticated vibe while still adding a layer of comfort while walking! I cannot recommend these enough! And, I cannot forget about my Tod penny driving moccasin! Such an easy slide-on shoe that holds up for years & is perfect for travel as they don’t take up too much room in your luggage.
I hope this helped you out with what to pack for an early- Spring trip to Rome or anywhere for that matter! I am so thankful to be back to traveling after the few years we have all had! Leave where you are headed this year in the comments below. I always love to hear what you all are up to! Until next time, loves!
