As a teenager in high school, I remember walking past the Banana Republic store front in the mall thinking ‘sophisticated’ and ‘classic’ were the adjectives that described the customer their brand attracted. Back then, I didn’t feel as though I identified with those words, but I would walk around their store hoping to grow into them someday.
