I put this outfit together last week,
posted it on Instagram,
and received an unexpected, and overwhelmingly positive, response,
so I thought it’d be a good “Outfit Rewind” post.
Tunics over leggings is one of my favorite “go-to” outfits.
Throw on boots and a fun necklace and you’re good to go …
perfectly ready for running errands, meeting up with a friend for a lunch date, etc.
Now, tunics can be a little tricky,
and I feel I would be doing you a disservice
if I didn’t point out one of my personal rules about them.
>> It must cover your ‘front’ and ‘back’ <<
.. if you catch my drift ..
If you’re unsure,
just remember,
the first thing people should see of your LEGGINGS
should be your LEGS.
So, be careful because tunics can look really cute
but trying them on is a MUST.
Remember: The length is more important than how cute the print is.
This classic tunic from J. Crew was a major hit in Fall 2011,
and silly me completely passed it by.
Thankfully, during all the holiday sales this past year,
I was lucky enough to get this identical one at J. Crew Factory for a fraction of the price.
Sidenote (pun-intended):
I don’t remember whether or not
the original of this shirt from J. Crew
was just a silk button-up or a tunic,
but the one I bought is definitely
long enough to pass for a tunic,
so forgive me if I’m mistaken)
It’s going to start getting warmer soon
but, while the weather is transitioning,
you can still sport this look
with a cute clutch and bright flats.
My navy and bright green striped tunic is no longer available,
so I decided to do some digging for y’all.
A fun list of some fun Spring tunics are listed below.
I found quite a variety of styles and price points,
so you’ll be sure to find one that fits your fancy!
