Patterns of blues.

Have you ever met someone that became an acquaintance at some point in your life
and then found out, years later, that they are currently in the midst of an amazing venture?
Well, the man behind the camera of these photo’s is the answer to that question for me.
In high school, Derrek Sullivan was a high school acquaintance of mine.
Our high school was quite large, so when I say acquaintance, I mean I knew who he was,
and he knew who I was, but I’m not sure how many words we actually exchanged.
Through the years, we’ve been Facebook friends and I knew that he became a firefighter & paramedic.
It was more recently, though, through Facebook, and then Instagram,
that I started seeing these jaw-droppingly, gorgeous photo’s that he and his wife take as a team.
They are essentially wedding photographer’s and cinematographer’s,
with a natural gift of capturing the deep love and affection of two people,
and ultimately the happiness it creates between them.
They fell into this business by complete accident,
and through their love for each other, and their love of love itself,
they have built a life out of documenting and sharing it with others.
Derrek reached out to me a few weeks ago and suggested we work together one day,
and here is just some of what came out of the collaboration.
I had so much fun catching up with Derrek, creatively working together,
and couldn’t be more pleased with the way they turned out.
I look forward to sharing them with y’all.
Be sure to check out Derrek and Jenn Sullivan’s website:
I particularly love these photos because
looking at the outfit compared to the setting just screams:
“You can take the girl out of the city,
but you can’t take the city out of the girl.”
But hey, I am shamelessly myself, and if that means
I’m going to stick out like a sore thumb, then so be it!!
So, I’m going to be Captain Obvious here,
and let y’all know, again, that I love to mix prints
so I just grabbed a little bit of everything into this number.
With this outfit, because there were so many patterns and shades of blue,
I decided to offset it a little bit with a complimentary color,
so I went with a bright red necklace.
Even though this outfit is more on the dressy side,
I went with a pair of neutral sandals because, even if you’re a city girl,
who really likes to look like T-Rex as you try and trudge through grass and dirt in heels?
Not this girl.
