Next week, I will be ringing in my 34th birthday and I’m feeling all the feels over here! I personally love birthdays, and not so much for the presents [though, they are fun!], because they’re truly a gift to continue to experience. When you lose loved ones, sometimes you feel like they were cheated. So, it’s important to me that I never complain about getting older. Life is so fragile so, let’s appreciate the days we’re given! I thought it’d be fun to celebrate one of my favorite things – online shopping! While I’ve shared just how important it has become to me [lately] to do this a little less frequently … I am still a regular online shopper – even if the purchases are few and far between! So, today, I am sharing the birthday wishlist I compiled last week while perusing Amazon!
I know you all love Amazon just as much as me so I thought I might as well share the recent finds that made it on the list. Plus, they’re all under $50, which makes it ten times better! Who doesn’t love a good budget find?
Faux Silk Leopard Print Pajamas
Y’all probably know by now that I live for a good pair of pajamas or loungewear. Being that I work from home, they’re almost part of my work uniform [half-kidding here, people]. I’ll always take the excuse to snuggle up with the boys in a comfy pair of PJs and since I’m a homebody, on top of working from home, I take my pajamas seriously.
If I’m honest, I’m a little skeptical of venturing into buying any kind of clothing from Amazon so I’m interested to see if I like these [if I end up purchasing them! I’m on the fence. Pajamas are, honestly, the last thing I need]. This pair is all kinds of cute with the blush leopard being my top pick [though they have 13 total prints/colors to choose from and I’m also eyeing the hearts and floral options]. Each set comes in at under $30 which is hard to beat for such a cute looking pair, right? The set has over 350 reviews and 5 stars, which I honestly don’t see on Amazon too often. Rave reviews and you know I’m in!
I always like treating myself to a new comfy set for Christmas and my birthday and I can’t wait to cuddle up in this one!
Bed Head Hair Waver
I originally saw Amber Fillerup use this Bed Head Hair Waver and, as everything does on her, it looked absolutely adorable. [I mean, seriously though, the girl and her family are #goals, right?!]
Honestly, I used to not be as adventurous with my hair, but I’m really trying to go outside of my comfort zone in 2020 [including hair, makeup, and even video content]. Since this waver is $25, I figure it’s an affordable test of sorts.
Essentially, it’s an easier way to give yourself those California beach waves without using a curling iron or straightener. It grabs a good amount of hair at a time so the process is actually quite fast depending on your hair thickness and length.
I’m sure it’ll take a few processes to get it down, but I’ll definitely be sharing as I figure it out. Once I feel confident in styling with it, I’ll share something on Stories or YouTube so stay tuned!
‘When Less Becomes More’ Book
If you caught my article on my word for 2020, you know I’m all about embracing less this year. I mean that in all aspects of my life, from purging my home and closet, to buying less, to working less, to expect less of myself, and so forth. I’ll definitely be sharing more on my ‘less movement’ as I go and I’d love to have this book to guide me. I’m sure I’ll need constant reminders and motivation to stay in the less lane since it’s a new thing for me, and I’ve heard wonderful things about this book.
The author, Emily Ley, is actually the woman behind the Simplified planners which I’ve seen countless times and support a simple plan to life.
The byline of her latest book is ‘When Less Becomes More: Making Space for Slow, Simple, and Good’, which makes me want to grab a cup of tea and dive in right now. Anyone else?
Electric Kettle
You know you’re officially an adult when a tea kettle is on your Amazon wishlist, huh? Ha! Does this make me completely un-fun to follow? Please say no.
I’m a coffee girl for the most part but London has most definitely brought out the tea lover in me. I love everything from the variety of teas out there to the simple pleasure of a warm cup in the afternoon or before bed. Drinking tea always transports me to my favorite city on Earth (London, obviously) and I think slowing down for tea time is a beautiful habit I’ve stolen from the Brits.
This electric option heats up water quickly so you can easily boil up a cup for yourself or a friend visiting. The white and stainless are aesthetically pleasing and goes perfectly with my other kitchen items.
Travel Jewelry Case
The fact that this travel jewelry case is $13.99 blows my mind because I’ve seen similar options on the market for triple that.
This affordable travel jewelry case seems to have it all though. A place for rings, bracelets, a thoughtful spot for necklaces, and it looks strong enough to hold up inside a suitcase. Plus, you know I’m a sucker for a blush accessory! It does come in several other color options like black, blue, white, etc. if you’re not a pink girl.
I’m putting this on my own birthday wishlist but I am also taking note of it as a great gift for friends and family members. After all, doesn’t everyone need the perfect little travel case? I think so!
Polka Dot Shower Cap
Alright, ladies, how adorable is this polka dot shower cap?! I knew I needed it [or would really like it] the moment that I saw the dot and bow details.
Since I go several days without washing my hair, like my women I know, a shower cap is a beauty necessity. I first starting using one to save my extensions from getting wet and now I throw one on whether I have extensions in or not.
It makes hopping in and out of the shower a lot easier and reduces the amount of moisture touching your hair [and in my case, reduces frizz]. I’ve gone through quite a few shower caps in my life but none this cute!
It has very good reviews and seems to hold up nicely, which I’m always looking for.
‘Get Out Of Your Head’ Book
As you can tell from this being the second book on my list, I’m a bit proponent of reading and books, in general. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things to give as a present [if I know the person well enough]. I’m trying to read more in 2020 since I do find an incredible amount of solace in the practice. This book is also on my list and I’m hoping to dive into it soon.
The premise of this book is ‘stopping the spiral of toxic thoughts’ which I think most of us feel to some extent. While I’m not an overly negative or toxic person or anything, I do feeling myself *going there* at times. I can get quite overwhelmed and emotional. I can operate out of shame the minute that I fail to meet an expectation, usually an unrealistic one, that I’ve set for myself. So, I’d love to read and learn from this book on ways to manage that process.
Glass Water Filter
OK OK … I know a water pitcher isn’t something you’d usually see on a birthday list [#thisis34], but y’all have to go to hear why. Because this isn’t any ol’ water pitcher and it’s pretty dang cool.
First up, it’s a great swap for a plastic water pitcher, and it can also reduce your carbon footprint in huge ways if you’re an avid water bottle consumer.
Secondly, it can turn regular tap water into Alkaline water but upping the pH levels and filtering out things like chlorine, heavy metals, some fluoride, etc.
If that sounds like confusing science stuff to ya, I get it. To break it down simply: it makes the water you’re drinking much healthier and it’s sustainable! It’d be great for use on your own or as the water pitcher for parties or hosting since you can also use it for infusing fruit into your water, tea, iced coffee, etc. Pretty cool, right?
Electronic Cord Holder
You guys know I’m a sucker for any sort of efficient packing tool, and this case holder is no exception. I honestly can’t believe I haven’t purchased this yet as it makes SO much sense for traveling and I could have SWORN I’ve seen everything travel related on Amazon at this point, ha! Between extra headphones, charging cases, pens, and basically everything that floats around your purse while traveling, it can get messy. It also helps you stay accountable for packing up cords and the like as you’re leaving your destination.
This nifty case holder has efficient pockets for all your loose ends and makes a ton of sense while traveling [or just in your purse at all times, TBH]. It’s a steal at $7.99 and, again, the blush pink sold me.
Vitamin C, E + Hyaluronic Acid Serum
I’m in the process of redoing my skincare routine [which I’ll share more about soon] and I’d love to add this serum to it.
Vitamin C is an excellent food for most skin types as it helps with brightening, lightening dark and sunspots, etc. And since this blend is mixed with Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, it’s a hydrating, anti-aging combination that I need in my life!
At under $20, this is an amazing price for quality ingredients. If y’all have been wanting to experiment with Vitamin C or hyaluronic acid [which I’m obsessed with!], this is a fair price point to start with. Read some of the reviews and you’ll be sold like I was!
And there you have it! A very practical wishlist, right? But honestly, that’s what is making me happy at this stage in my life, and you know I’m always happy finding a budget-friendly item. I’d LOVE to hear if y’all have any other must-have items you’re loving right now – especially if they fall into this Under $50 price category. Please let me know! I might have to add to my own list. xo.
