Everything You Need for an At-Home Date Night

While I’m so happy to be here in the UK with John, I will say this is not what I had in mind for first couple of months together. I imagined date nights in London, grabbing drinks with friends, going to a show, exploring new restaurants together, and all sorts of date night activities I took for granted before everything changed. I will say, though, I am so grateful to be in quarantine with the man I love and in the same home! I know that we are extremely lucky to be together during this time and I’m definitely not taking that for granted.

And while we might have to skip our exploration for now, we’re making the most of at-home date nights. Since I know a lot of you girls are also at home with your partners, I wanted to provide a few style and date options for y’all! Don’t worry – for those of you at home solo and far from your partner, I have a few ideas for you as well 🙂 Keep reading for what I’m relying on for our current date night situations and a few things you might not have thought of before!

Easy Dresses to Throw On + a Picnic Inside: How cute does an evening picnic sound?! I, for one, never pass up the opportunity to prep a charcuterie board and call it a meal, so this is a personal favorite. If you have an outdoor space, take advantage of spring weather and set up a blanket and picnic on your lawn or patio, and don’t forget those string lights. If you don’t have an outdoor space, a spot by the window in the living room works as well! Throw some music on, light a few candles, maybe pop open the first bottle of rosé of the season?

I know that a lot of us aren’t totally stocking our wardrobe due to the circumstances, but I’ve snagged a few dresses that I know I can wear now and later. I found this really cute option at Walmart that I wish I could get my hands on! It would work perfectly for this ‘picnic’ idea but also fit into your closet for a wide variety of other activities.

Cocktail Attire for Drinks or a Celebration: John and I took cocktail hour up a notch the other night with a ‘cocktail themed’ dress code along with creating a new cocktail of choice [I wore a leopard print dress, similar to this one, that he loved!]. Since John loves whiskey, we made a yummy whiskey drink, which these cubes would be perfect for! Throw on a lace cocktail dress and tell your partner not to skip the dress code, either. This was fun in person but could be equally cute if you’re Facetiming with a boyfriend or girlfriend, or even girlfriends and / or family! If you’re missing a bachelorette party or any other important event, this could be a great idea to throw out to a group virtually! For any of you future brides reading this, this lace white dress is gorgeous for a virtual celebration of sorts.

At-Home Wine Tasting: This is another idea that could absolutely be done virtually or in person. I personally love wine tasting and learning more about different wines. Plus, it gives everyone something new to talk about! My best friend, Whitney, has been doing these online wine classes and absolutely loving them! We keep saying we’re going to join for one of the ones he does on Sunday’s! This is a great first date idea, so if there’s someone you’ve been talking to but haven’t had the chance to meet in real life, try this! A sassy top that shows a hint of skin like this would be a great choice for this look – and if you’re doing it virtually, no one has to know you’re wearing joggers on bottom 🙂

I’ll go ahead and link everything mentioned above and other favorites from Walmart below. I don’t know about y’all, but I love how Walmart has been providing two-day shipping even through everything. They have so many amazing brands under their Walmart fashion wing now and whether you want something new to throw on for a date night or a pretty dress for a picnic and then party later this year, they can’t be beaten. I’ve been able to get everything I need for at-home date nights [and more!] from Walmart and I just adore their selections these days.

I’d love to hear what y’all have been doing to spice up date night at home! Hope you’re able to connect with your loved ones in one way or another. Let me know if you try any of the ideas listed in this article! xo.

Love this! Our situations are so similar. We FINALLY sold our home in Florida and moved to TN- something we’ve been planning for several years and it happens in the middle of this pandemic, lol. We are anxiously awaiting a return to normal (whatever the new normal may be) so we can get out and explore our new city and all it has to offer. Stay safe and keep up the great content

Hahah oh nooo!! Isn’t it such a blessing but then a bit of a bummer at the same time? Have to keep our eyes on the silver lining … at least it was able to happen at all! 🙂 Hope your lockdown ends soon! xx

The dress in your photo looks nothing like the one on the link.

I kindly disagree. I never said it was exactly the same but it is ‘similar’ as I mentioned. It is leopard print [again, not exact but very similar], long sleeve, tiered A-line silhouette, and crew neck. While what I’m wearing is not the exact dress [as I live in the UK and could not ship the exact item to me], I think Walmart has an amazing selection of cute and affordable dresses that would be perfect for a date night, which was part of the point of the post. 🙂 xo.

You may want to note in the blog post that the dress you are wearing is not the same as the one you linked to. You said it’s a similar option in your Instagram caption, but no where in the post. It’s misleading.

Oh my gosh, you’re so right. I always tell y’all when things are similar – I must have been juggling a few different tasks when I was writing this *face palm*. So sorry about that! Just fixed!
