What I’m Wearing on Christmas Day

Hi friends, happy Tuesday! The countdown to Christmas is officially on with only 10 days to go! Honestly, the past nine months are a blur but I’m very happy to have the distraction of Christmas / the holidays to bring a bit of cheer into the air. John and I have been ferociously prepping the house to celebrate the big day with his family and we are so excited to host for the first time, although – as I’ve mentioned – I will be sad to be away from mine. I know that’s something we all go through when we share our lives with another but, despite missing them, I am confident it’ll be a great day for all.

Honestly, being able to host John’s family in a year like 2020 with the UK being under the restrictions it has been, it feels like such a lucky opportunity. London will actually be put under a stricter tier starting on Wednesday but, the government has issued Christmas guidelines allowing families from three households to form a bubble from December 22nd through the 27th and those guidelines won’t change. It’s not lost on us that it’s still a risk for us to all be together and we are doing what we can to minimize that risk over the next week by limiting our outings as much as possible. I know this Christmas will be different for many families but let’s be hopeful that whatever sacrifices we are making [and have made this year due to Covid] that they aren’t in vain and will pave the way for a better 2021.

Okay, let’s get back to Christmas … I am excited to be planning our Christmas Day tablescape [John is handling the food, I’m handling decor … and desserts, hah!] but something I also wanted to share with y’all is my outfit for the day! So, let me just preface this all by saying this look was styling and what I thought I’d wear BEFORE John told me that it’s customary to wear a Christmas jumper [I.e. sweater] here in the UK on Christmas Day.

Haha, oh.

So, I’ll be wearing a Christmas jumper / sweater. BUT … here was my thought process for this outfit, which was my initial Christmas Day outfit. Because we are hosting, I wanted to take full advantage of the opportunity to wear something other than sweatpants because let’s be real, that’s all I’ve worn for the majority of the year. I wanted to go with something comfortable but polished, and landed on this stunning wrap-front midi dress. This dress checks so many boxes for me from the quality and softness of the material, to the wrap-front [this style dress is incredibly flattering on all kinds of body types], to the length. For me, personally, it’s also incredibly bump-friendly but is not maternity. Honestly, what more could you ask for?! It also comes in five different colors, one of which is a gorgeous earthy color called “paprika” that I really love and is available in all sizes!

Being that sizes are limited in all the other colors [hard to control when planning, sorry guys!], here are some other great Christmas Day options that have caught my eye at reasonable prices!

MORE CHRISTMAS DAY OUTFIT IDEA OPTIONS

I paired the dress with a classic pair of OTK boots [linked similar], which is a great option if you live somewhere chilly, but a pair of pumps would also be beautiful, or loafers like this if you want something more casual. Then, I added a plaid blanket scarf for that touch of Christmas festivity! If you’re heading somewhere for Christmas, you can throw on this wrap coat to keep you warm on your commute and look completely polished whether you’ve just arrived or you’ve made yourself comfortable.

This post was cathartic for me to put together, style and write for you ladies, if I’m being honest, so I really hope you enjoyed it and you’re able to snag the dress if it’s something you love. I think putting together an outfit post that didn’t center around joggers or cozies gave me a bit of much-needed normalcy – hopefully something we’ll all get a lot more of in 2021. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and I hope whatever you’re wearing for Christmas, you get to see or – at the very least – speak with the people you love most! By the way, head to the holiday page for all my gift guides if you’re still looking for holiday gift ideas! xo.

Love this outfit! You’ve inspired me to buy some OTK boots for Christmas (despite being in CA and definitely not needing them in 70 degrees!). Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and happy new year in the UK. I can’t wait to get back there in *hopefully* 2021.
