What I’m Packing for the Lake District

what to pack for the lake district

John and I are headed off to the Lake District for a few days, and can’t wait to take in the magnificent views. The Lake District is a region and national park located in northwest England. John actually won a two-night stay here from work, and we decided to extend it a few nights since it’s a bit far from Windsor. While we’re gone, Louie is staying with John’s mom. In today’s post, I’m rounding up what I’m packing for the Lake District, in case you too are headed to the mountains sometime soon!

It’s a bit cool and blustery this time of year in the Lake District, so I’m packing all things warm and cozy. We plan to do a bit of hiking during our time there, and highly recommend these Columbia hiking boots. They’re affordable, comfortable and waterproof. Although, I think this time I’m going to try out these Sorel boots to see how they compare to the Columbia boots. To go along with the hiking boots, these wool crew socks are also a must. They’re thick to keep your feet warm and cushioned.

I usually dress in layers for our hikes. Leggings with a fleece lining are a great option. Then, I usually wear a long sleeve tee underneath a warm hoodie like this 1/4 zip North Face fleece. I just bought this jacket from Lululemon so I’m excited to see how it performs in comparison. Of course, you can always layer more. It just depends on the weather. If you get too warm while you’re moving and grooving up the mountain, you can always take it off.

Additional Items I’m Packing for the Lake District

In addition to all the hiking gear, I’m also bringing along some fall-weather essentials. This wool-blend Dad coat from Abercrombie is great option to wear to dinner. It comes in seven other colors and patterns, and also comes in varying lengths. It’s on sale right now, too. In addition to my hiking boots, I’m also bringing a suede knee-high boot to pair with my midi sweater dresses that I can wear for our evening outings.

I finally get to use my Leatherology weekender bag. It’s the perfect size when you’re going on a quick trip or need an another bag to put the rest of your essentials in.

I’m looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the beautiful scenery in the Lake District with John. When we get back, I’ll do a recap of the hikes we did, where we stayed and where we ate. Have you been to the Lake District before? If so, drop all your recommendations below in the comments! Be sure to follow along on Instagram too. I’m sure I’ll be posting to stories often along the journey.

Have a wonderful week! xo.
