Where do you live and where are you from?

I live in Windsor, England but I am originally from Jacksonville, Florida.

Simply put, I lived here in 2016 for six months and I have never felt more ‘at home’ in a place that wasn’t my home in my life. I didn’t want to leave and felt like it was where I was supposed to be. I wrote so much more about that time in my life, how it came to be, and then how I decided to finally seek a UK visa in THIS post.

I didn’t meet John until 2019 while I was in the process of getting my paperwork together for my visa application. It was a pleasant surprise that he was based in a nearby town outside of London. I had always wondered ‘why’ I felt the draw to be there. And, since getting my visa and moving in March of 2020, it has been very clear that the love of my life and the beginning of our life together was meant to happen here.

If you’d like more insight into the journey, I documented the last little bit of the visa process HERE and the moving process HERE.

We met on Hinge! More about our relationship here.

I moved them over on a Virgin Atlantic flight where they flew as the most precious cargo. I know, I know … it pains ANY dog mama to think about that reality but, unfortunately, at the time … it was our only option. It was also during the pandemic so it was quite the experience that I had to guide a friend through as I couldn’t fly back to move them myself. More about the entire experience HERE

NOTE: Some details may not be the same now so be sure to check the updated information on both UK and US government websites.

I’m 5’3

In tops, I usually wear an XS but if an XXS is available, I size down because that usually means the garment runs big

In bottoms, I wear either a 24 or 00. If a 23 is available in a pair of jeans, I order that size because that usually means that the garment runs big.

In dresses, I wear a 00. If petite sizing is available, I typically purchase the smallest petite size.

I started the blog in 2013 after I had been sharing my personal style on Instagram since 2012. It was just a fun creative outlet at the time. I would shop on my days off and share things I found on sale as well as whatever outfit I was wearing. People seemed to enjoy it because more and more people I didn’t know started to follow. It was really fun for me at the time and it got my mind off of what I was going through behind the scenes. I was processing feelings of rejection after a move I had made to Colorado and I was processing feelings of grief after unexpectedly losing my mom. The community I was [inadvertently] building gave me so much joy and also something to look forward to putting my time and energy into. It didn’t pay any bills back then which is why it still blows my mind that this little blog has become what it is today. Thank you so much for being here, regardless of when you found me!

I was a registered nurse for 5 years. I am so grateful to have started my professional career as a nurse. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the profession because I love what I do now so much but it definitely afforded me an amazing perspective about life that I will always carry with me. I wrote a goodbye letter to nursing years ago here.
