Bonjour de la Côte d’Azur, amis!
I’m really excited to share my first post from beautiful Nice, France with you today! This city has been on my travel lust list since I was 17 years old and, honestly, I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon it. I’ve always loved writing and journalling online. During the last couple of years of high school, I really enjoyed getting my thoughts out through an online diary of sorts. So, I’m thinking I had to of just come across it through being ‘online’ a lot at that time in my life [… well, as much as my parents would allow me to be online, hah!]. I remember being captivated by the architecture and the pebble beaches. I thought it was so unique and beautiful, unlike anything I saw in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. I hoped to visit it one day so, when Victoria and I were brainstorming what cities we should incorporate into this trip, Nice came up and I jumped all over it!
As you might remember, Nice was the first stop on our two-week adventure and we decided, based on some friends recommendations, that we would only need to give ourselves two days to tick Nice off our list. So, we arrived in the late afternoon one evening, spent two full days here then left on the third morning. But, what I think we both left realizing is that we could have EASILY spent a week here in the French Riviera and never have gotten bored! I will say … it’s not a place where there are TONS of sites to see. It’s definitely an area for anyone looking to take their time exploring neighboring towns and cities while also leisurely reading on the beach under a beautiful blue and white striped umbrella and dining on delicious French Onion Soup and Chicken Cordon Bleu at night. I’ll talk more about the places we wished we had had the time to venture to in the big travel diary I share with you all about Nice!
On our first morning, we decided to get an early start! So, we got up and ready, ate breakfast at the hotel then walked down the famous Promenade des Anglais. It is an absolutely stunning site and pretty peaceful early in the morning. We were able to snap some photos down on the beach before it got too crazy! Naturally, we made our way down the promenade, taking it all in, aww-ing over all the puppies I saw and wondering where everyone walking on either side of me was from in this big world. On our way back, we decided to park it for a little bit and have a second breakfast at Balthazar, a contemporary French restaurant and brewery that overlooks the Promenade. We had gotten such an early start and this isn’t a place that embraces takeaway coffee’s so … we enjoyed just sitting and sipping and talking about what was next and where we wanted to venture to the next day being that Nice is so small.
I’ll save the rest of our itinerary for this day for the travel diary 😉 … but if you’re looking for a little white dress to take along with you on travels, this one is killer and I’m excited to share that it’s available in multiple sizes again! [HEADS UP! THIS ONE is a really REALLY similar one to mine for under $100!] I’m in an 00 and I did NOT get this one altered. I love the lace detailing and fit-and-flare silhouette with short sleeves. I opted for a white belt to tie it all together along with neutral accessories and a hat to keep my face protected against the strong sun rays! People get SO burnt here! You can DEFINITELY tell who the locals were by their dark tans and ‘give it all to me’ sun-worshipping attitude! 🙂
I have found that white dresses always look the best in travel photos because it’s not competing the background, but rather typically complements it, so I rounded up a few for you to consider for upcoming vacay’s if mine isn’t your cup of tea:
Au revoir, les amis! Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by! xo.
